The Comanche Chief: F&M Bank to Support the Comanche Public Library Project to “Cross the Finish Line”
Construction of the Comanche Public Library project continues to move forward with the new library expected to open in February. The construction project, fully funded by the private Comanche Library Foundation at no cost to taxpayers, will be almost double the size of the library and include a complete renovation of the existing building. The new library complex will include an expanded children’s area as well as an outside park, a maker space room for everything from traditional arts and crafts to robotics and STEM projects, a dedicated teen room, two study rooms, a heritage room, a 60-person capacity meeting room, a quiet reading room, and many other spaces for the community to enjoy.
The Comanche Public Library Foundation is currently in the middle of its “Cross the Finish Line” fundraising campaign, which is taking donations to finish fully furnishing the library. “The new library is going to be a wonderful addition to our community.” said Brian Imiola, the Library Foundation President. “The Cross the Finish Line fundraising effort is focused on making sure we have absolutely everything we need on Day 1. When the new building opens, we want the community to have an amazing experience from the very start.”
In support of the “Cross the Finish Line” Campaign, F&M Bank has volunteered its support to the project. “As a locally owned community bank, a core part of our mission is to support important local projects like the new library.” said Bank President Jeff Stewart. “We know how important the library is for our community and are very excited to be part of the effort to help”. In addition to their own donation to the campaign, F&M Bank is setting up to take donations from the public at both their Comanche and Deleon branches. “Starting on October 22nd, our lobbies will have displays and promotional materials showcasing the new library. This will give the community a chance to see what the library will look like and all that it will offer. Community members will also have the opportunity to donate to the project while visiting.” said Cindi Wyckoff, F&M Assistant Vice President. “We are also exploring the possibility of a November fundraising event at the F&M branch in Comanche.”
Deborah Hanson, the Library Director, expressed her excitement about the project and the campaign. “The Library Foundation has been absolutely amazing in planning and funding the library project! Now it’s so exciting to see the community come together to help the project cross the finish line. The new library will truly have something for everyone, and I know our staff, patrons, and the community can’t wait until it opens.”
