Good evening, friends 💛
I’ve been a bit quiet here the past few weeks—but better late than never. I couldn’t let this moment pass without sharing something truly special.
On December 13, 2025, I had the honor of attending the dedication and grand opening of the Barnett Branch of the Columbus Metropolitan Library. This celebration was especially meaningful to me, as it marked my last official act as a Mid East Area Commissioner. What a beautiful and fitting way to close that chapter of service.
The Barnett Branch, represented by the Mid East Area Commission (formerly known as the Community Collaborative), is an incredible investment in our community. The new space includes:
✨ 22,000 square feet (up from 12,300!)
✨ Three meeting rooms and four study rooms for community use
✨ A large children’s area with expanded space for reading, play, programs, and computers
✨ A dedicated teen space with books, computers, a game room, and even a recording studio
✨ A Learning Center offering free after-school academic support
✨ Public computers and a business center
✨ Commissioned works of public art throughout the building
✨ Inviting seating areas to read, study, and relax
✨ A thoughtfully curated collection of materials to meet the needs of the community
And, as part of the celebration, the newest Ohio Historical Marker—placed prominently in front of the library—was officially unveiled. The marker commemorates the important people and places that have shaped Ohio’s history, with special recognition of Livingston Heights Place. Be sure to check out the photo of the marker to see the names of the Livingston Heights Place residents honored for their lasting contributions to the community.
If you haven’t had the opportunity to visit yet, I strongly encourage you to do so. The space is welcoming, inspiring, and absolutely beautiful—and a true reflection of what’s possible when a community comes together to invest in learning, growth, and opportunity.
Many thanks to my husband, Henry Foster, for capturing such beautiful and memorable photos of the day. 💛
