COLLECTIVE GUIDELINES
This document is to provide a guideline to open and fair communication, as well as, understandings of shared expectations among perf
ormers. Let's work together, communicating effectively, thoroughly and honestly. If you belong to a burlesque troupe, you can still belong to the collective and vice versa. If you are comedian, musician, circus or fire performer, belly dancer or other type of performer and want to be part of our shows, you are welcome to join us. There is no competition between us, only community. Regardless of experience, opportunities, other roles of leadership, no one will try to take an upper hand or position of authority over another. If you are part of a troupe, you have your own voice in the collective. All members will respect all burlesque performers and their representation of burlesque. Constructive criticism is defined as not being hurtful or rude. Members will actively promote any shows where they are invited to perform. No member will accept an unpaid performance (except for a benefit, charity or festival). When an opportunity to perform becomes known, inform all members regardless of the casting needs, whether it's private or public. All members are responsible for knowing some history of burlesque, the definition of burlesque, the expansiveness that it entails and the passion to learn more about it. All members are encouraged to take a variety of classes. If any members teach a class(es) that can improve one's burlesque performance, please invite all members. If a member becomes aware of a class(es) being offered, inform all members. Be respectful of your audience, cast, venue, venue staff and promoters with good stage and backstage etiquette. Anyone that violates the guidelines will need to explain their behaviors. Based on your response, your continued participation in the collective will depend on a majority vote from the founding members. We welcome any burlesque performer to join this collective and be at one with our mission of community, positivity, love, respect, creativity, joy – for the art of burlesque. By signing this document, you agree to follow the guidelines and desire to create a cohesive burlesque community in the Central Ohio area. Lady Monster
