LISTEN AND BE CAREFUL!!
PLEASE BE CAREFUL when signing these voting petitions. I was approached this evening with a petition to sign supporting senior adults. The “Bill” was supposed to help with rent control and would offer supportive resources for senior adults. I am in strong favor in support for our seniors so I asked more questions. I was fascinated and excited that there would be a Bill for seniors on the upcoming election ballot. I became very excited and wanted to know more about the Bill supporting seniors!!! He didn’t have all of the answers to my questions but I figured, it’s ok, maybe he is a new employee, it’s ok, I didn’t mind.
So, I asked for printed material on the Bill. He showed me a 1-page document for about 5 seconds but nothing specially about a Bill. He asked me to type in my name into his cell phone into the online voter website to confirm that I am a registered voter. I thought, Hmmmm… ok…this was a different approach but ok, I will. Maybe they want to confirm my eligibility so they don’t waste time on an ineligible person. Hmmm… ok.
Once the system confirmed that I am a registered voter, he asked me to sign this petition. The “petition” asked for REQUIRED information that included my full name, mailing address, my entire date of birth, my telephone number, the last 4 digits of my social security number, my printed and signed name, and a preferred 4 digit PIN number.
Huh??? No, Sir!! I bet I don’t fill out none of that information!!
Not only did he waste my time believing there would be a Bill on the ballot to support our seniors but he tried to scam me!! 😡😡
