🚗🔥 TODAY AT FORT HAYES 🔥🚗

The Rickenbacker Woods Foundation is proud to support one of our own — Makhi Byrd — as he presents the Capital City Showdown Car & Audio Show + Resource Fair today from 3PM–7PM at Fort Hayes!

Makhi is a former first-year COITWI intern, valedictorian, and young leader who continues giving back and showing up for the community. We love seeing young people create positive spaces, build culture, and bring people together in Columbus.

This is more than just a car show — it’s youth leadership, creativity, entrepreneurship, music, fellowship, and community energy all in one place.

✅ FREE admission for the public to come through and check out the scene
✅ Custom cars & audio builds
✅ Community resources
✅ Good energy & positive vibes
✅ Support local youth leadership

📍 Fort Hayes Metropolitan Education Center

They dressed like they already know who they are. COITWI Senior Edition. Our cohort. Our future. More coming. Watch this space.

Over the next several weeks, we’ll be highlighting the journeys, achievements, leadership, service, workforce experiences, creativity, and growth of our graduating COITWI Senior Edition interns alongside members of the larger cohort as they prepare for college, careers, trades, and their next chapter in life.

Shout out to Mayor Andrew Ginther and the Columbus City Council for their consistent and continued support of this two-time award winning workforce program.

They are not just learning history.
They are helping shape it.

Thank you to Fairwood Elementary and Columbus City Schools for welcoming the Rickenbacker Woods Foundation into the classroom during Granville T. Woods Week. It was an honor to help students connect history, STEM, creativity, and hands-on learning while exploring the legacy of one of Ohio’s great inventors. We truly appreciate the partnership and the opportunity to inspire future innovators. ⚡🔬📞

05/12/2026

⚡📞🔬 Last week, students at Fairwood Elementary School stepped into the world of invention through Granville T. Woods Week with the Rickenbacker Woods Foundation.

Through hands-on STEM activities, students explored electrical circuits, built battery-powered fans, and learned how communication changed over time — from early telephones to modern fiber optics.

By connecting history, science, and creativity, students experienced innovation for themselves while learning about the legacy of Granville T. Woods, one of Ohio’s most important inventors.

Thank you to Columbus City Schools and Fairwood Elementary for welcoming us into the classroom and helping bring hands-on learning to life.

The mission continues.

This is what it looked like. ⚡

Granville T. Woods Week at Rickenbacker Woods and citywide brought together youth, families, partners, and community for a full week of learning, history, and activation.

From STEAM to storytelling to public recognition — this is what it looks like when history becomes opportunity.

And this is only the beginning.
