The Rickenbacker Woods Foundation is proud to support one of our own — Makhi Byrd — as he presents the Capital City Showdown Car & Audio Show + Resource Fair today from 3PM–7PM at Fort Hayes!

Makhi is a former first-year COITWI intern, valedictorian, and young leader who continues giving back and showing up for the community. We love seeing young people create positive spaces, build culture, and bring people together in Columbus.

This is more than just a car show — it’s youth leadership, creativity, entrepreneurship, music, fellowship, and community energy all in one place.

Through hands-on STEM activities, students explored electrical circuits, built battery-powered fans, and learned how communication changed over time — from early telephones to modern fiber optics.

By connecting history, science, and creativity, students experienced innovation for themselves while learning about the legacy of Granville T. Woods, one of Ohio’s most important inventors.
