This week we donated a crate of fresh lettuce to Highland Youth Garden for their monthly community dinner. Their youth crew served food they helped grow, and our greens were part of the table.

None of this food access work happens alone. It runs on organizations supporting each other, sharing what we have, and covering each other’s gaps. Grateful to partner with Highland Youth Garden.

Wet morning at the Berwick Alternative community garden. We harvested a good haul of produce, and our neighbor, friend, and volunteer Chris Caridas built and installed a Little Free Library right in the garden.

Books for the students who learn a few feet away, and for the neighbors who walk by every day. A garden that already feeds people now hands out stories too.

Grateful for volunteers like Chris, Bethany Ferguson, Marti, and Helen who just see a good idea and grow it. Come check it out and take a book next time you’re by.

We love growing together. Now let's hang out together.

We are putting together a community outing to the Columbus Clippers game on Tuesday, August 11 at 7:05pm. It's Dime-A-Dog Night, a Columbus tradition since the very first Clippers season in 1977. Ten-cent Sahlen's hot dogs, good company, and a summer evening at the ballpark. Tickets are around $11 to $14.

This is not a fundraiser. Just a chance to get to know each other outside the garden.

We Grow What We Share

We rise with the sun and the soil,
hands in the earth, glad for the work.
Leaf by leaf, we gather the green,
crates full of what the season gives.

There is joy in the growing,
joy in the washing and sorting,
joy in the weight of a full box
passed from our hands to yours.

Save the date! Growing to Green is hosting a Community Garden Mixer this Sunday, July 5th from 11AM to 1PM as part of July Community Day at 1846 Franklin Park South.

This year's theme is It Takes a Village to Raise a Seedling, and we are celebrating the return of the Urban Garden Leadership Academy. Come connect with other gardeners, share what you are growing, and check out the Drop a Resource, Grab a Resource exchange table and community dream board. There will be refreshments, music, a wheelbarrow raffle, and free lawn rakes up for grabs.

Bring your flyers and come share the amazing work you are doing. Once you wrap up at the mixer, stick around for the rest of the Community Day fun.

The Garden District is the featured frontline partner for this show, which means your presence directly supports our work growing food and building community across Columbus.
614 Musicians United brings together local bands and local causes to make a real impact right here in central Ohio. Live local. Give local. Make an impact.
