Reaching For The Shining Starz

Since 2014, we’ve been meeting women on their terms through street outreach.

Through weekly street outreach, we distribute hygiene bags, food, and clothing to women by meeting them where they are in a nurturing and non-judgmental manner. Reaching for the Shining Starz is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization devoted to providing immediate relief to women in the city of Columbus caught in the vicious cycle of human trafficking, addiction, and homelessness.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to the incredible congregation at Hilltop Church of God for hosting a rummage sale in support of Reaching for the Shining Starz! 💗

Because of your generosity, hard work, and community support, the sale raised over $2,000 for RSS! 🙌

Every dollar will help us continue our weekly outreach—providing meals, hygiene supplies, clothing, and hope to the women we serve.

We are so grateful for a church that opened its doors, rallied its community, and chose to support our mission. Your generosity will make a real difference in the lives of women in our community.

Another fulfilling night of outreach. 🩷

We never assume we know who we will meet. The women we serve come from all walks of life and are at different stages of their journeys.

This weekend, we met mothers with their children, sisters, and single women. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve each of them—with a meal, a change of clothes, and a reminder that they are seen and cared for.

Every woman. Every story. Every Sunday. 💗

On Thursday, we were honored to attend the CATCH Court graduation ceremony.

CATCH Court - Creating Autonomy Through Collaborative Healing—is a specialized two-year diversion program through Franklin County Municipal Court designed to support survivors of human trafficking, prostitution, and chemical dependency.

Reaching for the Shining Starz attends CATCH Court weekly, and being part of these women’s journeys is incredibly meaningful to us. We see women while they are on the streets, walk alongside them through the challenges of recovery and change, and then have the privilege of celebrating when they reach milestones like graduation.

These moments are a powerful reminder of why we do the work we do. Congratulations to all of the graduates! We are so proud to celebrate you. 💗

Even with torrential downpours, we served 25 ladies tonight! 🩷

Our ladies are always grateful for our consistency. Rain or shine, they know we’ll keep showing up.

Every Sunday. Every woman. Every time 🩷

We served 21 ladies last night 💗

As always, so many of our ladies were looking and waiting for us to arrive. These relationships and familiar faces remind us why showing up every Sunday matters.

If you feel called to support our outreach, a donation of any size helps us continue showing up each week. Every bag, every gift, and every act of kindness makes a difference.

Last night, we had the pleasure of having a survivor and her mom join for outreach 💗

It was special to have a survivor serving alongside us, with her mom’s love and support. This is what survivor-led work is all about—strength, healing, compassion, and hope.

So grateful for both of them and for everyone who supports our mission! 💗

Last night was our Annual Survivor Cookout—a beautiful evening of coming together as family 🩷

We shared good food, laughter, and fellowship, but also took time to reflect and honor the sisters who are no longer with us. Through heartfelt stories and testimony, we remembered their lives, their strength, and their impact.

It was a powerful reminder of why we do the work we do. Every woman we meet matters. Every life has value. And every story deserves to be remembered.

We are grateful for our survivor community, our volunteers, and everyone who continues to walk alongside us in this work.

We are so grateful for our Survivor Leader, Barb, and Board Member, who led outreach last night.

Our ladies were waiting and so happy to see us. These relationships are at the heart of what we do—showing up consistently, building trust, and reminding women that they are seen and valued.

We are incredibly proud to be survivor-led and grateful for the lived experience and leadership Barb brings to Reaching for the Shining Starz.
