Happy Black History Month! We’re continuing our scholar highlights with Janisa Tyler. She says, “The Dr. Tina Pierce’s Social Justice scholarship has literally changed my life. A couple months ago I didn’t even know if college would be possible for me. Having graduated early from college was the logical next step yet I didn’t have the funds to even consider without taking on massive debts and working extra hours at my two jobs. However, through the scholarship not only was I able to attend college my first year debt free, but also had the flexibility where I didn’t have to work to survive I could take a sick day from work, not having to risk my health because at least my school was paid for and I had a roof over my head. I have been able to cut my hours to the point it feels as if I’m only working one job. I’m able to rest focus on my studies and I have the weight of the world so heavy on my shoulders and for that I am eternally grateful. individuals who can afford to donate even a little bit to support the scholarship should because you will change lives. I’m sure I am not the only reciprocate of the scholarship who’s literally had their life changed for the better.”
