Time Banks 101
Start the New Year Right — Join Us at the January 18th Time Bank Potluck
Want to get more out of your Time Bank membership this year? Have you been meaning to find out more about time banking? Did you tell yourself that you would explore time banking –but didn’t get around to it?
Come to our January potluck and let’s explore how we can help each other make the most of our shared network of skills, talents, and goodwill. Whether you’re wondering: -How to find someone who offers the service you need -How to post your own requests -What skills you might have to offer (you probably have more than you think!) -How to earn hours and how to spend hours -Or simply how the Time Bank works in real life —we’ll walk through it together in a relaxed, friendly environment. Bring a dish to share, bring your questions, and bring your curiosity.
Let’s start 2026 by strengthening our community, learning from one another, and discovering new ways to give and receive support. If you have been using the CSTB just fine and don't need help, please come to support others!
Or maybe you would like to know how you can help our Time Bank community grow:
+Bring a Friend, Earn an Hour! Help us grow the Care and Share Time Bank community! When you bring a non-member guest to the upcoming potluck and presentation, you’ll earn one extra Time Bank Credit as a thank-you for spreading the word. It’s the perfect chance to introduce a friend, neighbor, or coworker to the spirit of sharing and connection that makes our Time Bank so special.
AND/OR --- Earn Extra Time Bank Hours at the Potluck!
+Be our event photographer! Snap some photos during the gathering to help us share the spirit of community on our social media and in our emails. You’ll earn one Time Bank Credit for your help — and our heartfelt thanks!
+Come at 6 to help set-up! People are invited to arrive at 6pm to help us set up for the potluck. You don’t have to do anything physically strenuous, just help us get ready! Earn a Time Bank Credit for joining us for set-up or post-potluck cleanup.
+We are also working on carpooling to the potlucks! If a person can carpool as a driver, they can earn a Time Bank Credit for helping others! If you are interested in carpooling, please contact [email protected]. If you need a ride, also write to [email protected]
The potluck will start about 6:30. Most people arrive around 6:15 to talk and greet each other! We will gather at the First UU (93 W Weisheimer Rd, Columbus, OH 43214).
Yes! Bring a dish to share if you can -we wouldn’t turn anyone away for not bringing food! Since we have such a wide range of dietary restrictions, please write out a simple list of the ingredients in your dish.
We will have a “Sharing” table! If you would like, bring a gently used item for others to take, browse to see if there’s something you would like.
We are asking for people to bring EVERYTHING needed for the potluck for themselves.
