Our organizational values prov

ide a framework for the way we manage this online community and will expect users to conduct themselves when visiting. Trust | We will foster trust within the organization and the community
Our staff and volunteers have more than two centuries of combined experience in working with young children. Our team works hard to curate knowledge resources that are useful for parents, caregivers, and advocates. You can count on us to share information that is factual and the most up to date. Love | “Love is the best motivator for learning and growth.” Dr Becky Bailey, founder of Conscious Discipline®. Visitors here should feel safe to ask questions and know that they won’t be judged for not having the answers already. Respect | We value the feelings, wishes, rights, and traditions of others. While there is always room for lively discussion, we insist that community members treat each other with respect. This is a family-friendly space. No profanity, obscenity, or graphic content will be allowed. Racial Equity | We will work to change the systems that keep families from having the tools and resources to equip their children for success in school and life. We will work to promote access to community resources for historically underserved communities. Quality | Quality + Readiness = Success
Our work is grounded in evidence-based programs and services that prepare children for school success. We listen to the experts and follow their recommendations on what’s best for children and families. Failure to adhere to community guidelines will result in comments being removed. Users whose repeated behavior is in violation of the guidelines will be blocked from further participation in our online community.

Spring at the farm has become one of our favorite Richland First Steps traditions. For the past few years, we’ve gathered with our families, staff, and children at Cottle Strawberry Farm for a day filled with laughter, connection, and memory-making together.

This year brought us some beautiful weather, smiling faces, and so many sweet moments shared across our Richland First Steps community. From the kids exploring and playing to families spending time together outside of the classroom, it was a wonderful reminder of how important connection and community are in the lives of children and families.

We are so grateful for opportunities like these that allow us to slow down, enjoy time together, and celebrate the relationships that help children thrive. Thank you to everyone who joined us for such a fun and special day at the farm!

We are continuing the celebration of mothers, caregivers, and the loving adults who help children grow and thrive every day.

On Monday, our centers hosted Pastries with Parents, giving families time to slow down, connect, and share special moments together. From smiles and hugs to conversations over breakfast, these moments remind us how important love and connection are in a child’s life.

Thank you to all the mothers, grandmothers, caregivers, guardians, and supportive adults who show up each day with love, patience, and care. Your impact matters more than words can say.

Reminder! 🍎 Teacher Appreciation Week is May 5–9

Our teachers do so much for our children every single day. Next week is the perfect time to say thank you.

A small gesture can go a long way:
• Write a quick thank you note
• Help your child make a simple craft
• Bring a favorite snack or sweet treat

It doesn’t have to be big to be meaningful. A little appreciation can make a teacher’s whole week.

Let’s show our Richland First Steps teachers just how much they matter 💛

is one week away!

On May 5, our community will come together to support organizations making a difference across the Midlands. At Richland First Steps, our goal is to raise $5,000 to support children and families from pregnancy through age five.

We have already raised more than $1,500, including a generous $1,000 offline gift. That is a strong start.

Now we are building toward the day.

You can plan to give on May 5, or make your gift today and help us keep the momentum going.
