Did you know?

Direct clinical supervision as a preceptor to a nurse-midwifery/midwifery student from an ACME accredited program (with or without payment), will be approved for up to 10 contact hours for 90 hours or more spent precepting. A letter from the faculty coordinator is required for documentation.

The A.C.N.M. Foundation changed their name to The Midwife Foundation, Inc. and asked us to share the following message:

A new chapter begins!
As part of our continued growth and renewal, The A.C.N.M. Foundation is now re-branded as The Midwife Foundation, Inc.
While our name has changed, our mission remains the same: strengthening midwifery through scholarships, leadership development, research, and programs that advance the profession. For decades, we have invested in midwives and supported their education, leadership, and engagement in communities they serve across the United States and around the world.
Our longstanding partnership with ACNM remains central to our work, and we look forward to continuing to champion the profession alongside our many partners—including AMCB.
As we transition to our new name and visual identity, you may continue to see references to The A.C.N.M. Foundation for a period of time as we honor our history while embracing the future.

AMCB is currently seeking volunteers! Below is a brief description but additional information can be found under the Get Involved tab of our website https://www.amcbmidwife.org/get-involved :

Credentials, Administration and Reporting (CAR) Chair

The AMCB will have a CAR Chair position opening effective January 1, 2027, for a three-year term. The Board meets twice a year (once in the spring and once in the fall) at the AMCB Headquarters in Columbia, Maryland.

The position available is from Category 2.

I. Composition of Board of Directors

A. Category 1: three directors who shall be the current officers of the Corporation (President, Treasurer, Secretary)
B. Category 2: four directors who are current Chairpersons of the Examination Committee, the Credentials, Administration and Reporting (CAR) Committee, the Research Committee, and the Certificate Maintenance Program (CMP) Committee
C. Category 3: three directors who are active in other professional or testing organizations, one of whom shall be a nurse
D. Category 4: one director shall be a consumer/public member
E. Category 5: all credentials that are granted will be represented on the Board

The AMCB External Item Writing Committee needs you!

Volunteers are the heart of our organization. At this time, the AMCB External Item Writing Committee is searching for Certified Midwives (CM) and Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNM) who are actively practicing, to contribute to our diverse team of professionals. As a member of this committee, you would be expected to attend a virtual training once a year. The Item Writing Committee is responsible for researching and creating examination questions to submit to the Exam Committee for review, you can view the complete list of committee responsibilities and procedures on our website.

Are you an ACNM Member? If so, have you updated your practice listing on their Find A Midwife page on their website? It now includes zip code and location searches.

Directors, owners, and partners can now add and update listings through the ACNM portal by logging in then go to Settings > Practice Director Profile, and complete the Practice Information section. Use the Control button to make multiple selections.

Did you know that participation in an ACME Accreditation Review will qualify a CNM/CM for 10 contact hours once per certification cycle. A letter from the ACME executive director will be required for verification.

Did you know that if you are a primary author of a chapter in a peer reviewed textbook relevant to midwifery and women's health, you may receive recognition in lieu of 10 contact hours. A photocopy of the published chapter from the textbook is required for documentation. Secondary authors may request 5 hours. Acceptable documentation includes a copy of the document and evidence of the degree of their participation in the development of the chapter. An example of this evidence would be a statement in the publication describing each author’s participation.
