On Saturday, our M25 residents and their children attended Paige's Crossing "Trunk or Treat." Thank you, Trisha Poling and Paige's Crossing, for continually inviting our families to attend events in the community.

This Thursday October 29th at 9:30 we are starting another 6 sessions of Drumming 4 joy at the M25 REC! Lindsay Sprunger will be with us every OTHER Thursday and we are so happy to have her back! On Friday, the H.A.N.D.S. Foundation dropped by for a visit and a BIG surprise ... 4ooo surprises to be exact! Their group had extra funds and decided the dollars needed to be used within the community and decided that Mission 25 supportive housing would be a great use of the $4000!

We are so thankful to the H.A.N.D.S Foundation for their continued support and belief in our mission. When community groups come together, big things can and will happen!

The H.A.N.D.S. (Helping Achieve new Direction through Students) is an 18-member student group (six students from each of the three county school systems), grades 8-12 that meets monthly to discuss community needs, review grant requests and allocate funding to projects with an educational focus. The youth group is the result of a collaborative effort between the Dekko Foundation, the Community Foundation and three public school systems in Whitley County.

No school? No problem!

The M25 Miami Village team loves coming up with activities to entertain, enrich, and energize our kiddos during "no school" days.

Already this semester, we have done laser tag, Sky Zone, an egg drop challenge, pumpkin painting, playing in the park, pizza party, and a movie!

It's never boring around here. We love making memories, learning, and building relationships with one another.

"It's opener there in the wide open air," Dr. Seuss.

Our men and women started a new book study this week: 'Oh the Places You'll Go!" by Dr. Seuss.

The recovery journey will include both challenges and opportunities. We get to decide which direction to follow. With the tools learned throughout the recovery journey, we can say, "I don't choose to go there." We leave behind what is not safe. We also understand that when it's an open and wide place, it can feel both exciting and scary. Sometimes we need to take a step back to our safe space and regroup, and that's ok!

A Life Map was also completed during the first session where we shared "Where I hope to go." One person shared, "I want to be confident. I want peace."

Excited to see where this book study leads us on our journeys.

Today the M25 staff spent the afternoon out of the office and went into the community. We did a Fall Pop Up event to learn where we are needed next.

Kids at Miami Village Community Center are learning more than "chores" when helping clean. We are teaching them at a young age to care about the space that is theirs.

Teaching children to take care of their own spaces through chores builds life skills, confidence, and a sense of responsibility that will extend far beyond a clean space. These skills can be used in the classroom, home, work, and life.

And a bonus ... they have so much fun participating together!

Unfortunately...this year's Driving Hope Golf Outing was a swing and a miss. 😔 It's with heavy hearts that we had to cancel today's outing despite Amaya's valiant efforts to play an honest game in the rain.
