What else is the Columbia City Rotary Club doing to strengthen our community?

Through our annual auction fundraiser, we don’t just raise money—we build lasting impact. Those funds are strategically invested into multiple endowment accounts designed to grow year after year, creating a sustainable source of support for our community’s future—especially our youth.

One of our most meaningful partnerships is with the Questa Education Foundation. Together, we help open doors for students pursuing college or trade school who need financial support to take that next step.

Questa doesn’t just provide funding—it creates opportunity. Students can graduate with significantly less debt, and in some cases, even qualify for loan forgiveness. Behind the scenes, our Rotary members actively serve by reviewing applications each year, ensuring the process is thoughtful and thorough—while maintaining the integrity of an independent selection through Questa.

On average, the Columbia City Rotary Club contributes $15,000 annually to this effort. That investment changes lives—giving students who may not have otherwise had the opportunity the chance to continue their education, build careers, and return value back into the community.

This isn’t just charity. It’s a commitment to the future of Columbia City.

The Rotary Club of Columbia City is searching for candidates to attend its 37th annual District 6540 Rotary Youth Leadership Award Camp at Camp Tecumseh YMCA Outdoor Camp, Brookston, Indiana. The camp will take place from April 17th – April 19th, 2026.
Eric Horvath local committee chair, said that participants will be selected from students, in their sophomore or junior years in high school, who have exhibited leadership abilities in school, church, extracurricular, or community activities.
The Rotary Club is now contacting churches, high school principals, guidance counselors, youth organizations, and other sources for nominations.
Aimed at developing the leadership potential of young people, the camp will feature many challenging activities including workshops, speakers, discussions, sports, music, and fun. Topics will focus on decision-making, critical thinking, communicating effectively, public service, contemporary problems, and career development.
The participants will live, work, study, and play together in a democratic setting under the guidance of professional counselors and educators.
Anyone interested in obtaining further information should contact Eric Horvath at [email protected] or any other member of the Rotary Club.

The Rotary Club of Columbia City is interested in community leadership, not only for today, but for tomorrow as well. The students in our community will, in a very few years, be assuming leadership roles in the community and beyond. Rotary would like to help.

For this reason, the 58 Rotary Clubs in District 6540 will conduct the 37th annual Rotary Youth Leadership Award Camp at Camp Tecumseh YMCA Outdoor Camp, Brookston, Indiana from April 17th – April 19th, 2026. It will be staffed by carefully selected professional counselors. Our objective is to offer outstanding high school sophomores and juniors an opportunity to live, work, and play together in an atmosphere of friendly competition which will offer a challenge to accept the responsibilities of leadership. Much of each student's time will be structured with programs such as group discussions, guest speakers, career guidance, and group sports. Perhaps the greatest benefit will come from sharing this experience with 130 outstanding young men and women from high schools in northern Indiana.

Our Rotary Club is asking you to nominate students who have already displayed leadership abilities and who will profit most from this experience. We suggest they be selected first for leadership potential, second for good citizenship, third for desire to attend the camp, and fourth for scholarship.

Nominations should be made and the names given to Eric Horvath ([email protected]) no later than February 16, 2026. Our Rotary Committee will then interview the students and select the delegates and alternates.

Thanks for your assistance in this project for the advancement of youth.

Sincerely,

Eric Horvath
