Chris Alvarez - Child's Play

Recreating the art of my young children has taken me to places I hadn’t expected. I thought I was simply reinterpreting my kids’ art, but I found myself reflecting on the past and learning about art in new ways.

When my son and daughter were little, they would spend their days in my studio making art alongside their dad. Revisiting their work brought those memories back with surprising force. Sometimes I found myself in tears as I “copied” their drawings and paintings in oil. I miss those fleeting years when my children were tiny, and this project has allowed me to reconnect those past moments with the present.

Lisa Wallace Deen - July 10, 2026 – Come for a walk with me. The air is cool now, and the neighborhood is quiet. Do you see the sunset? The light reflects off the clouds. The vastness of the sky soothes our minds. Vast, deep, transparent, immersive. The colors. The colors aren’t contained in chloroform and physical matter. They erupt without limits to fill our senses.

Our partnership with The Mining Exchange is truly special. The trust they have in us to curate their space every three months is wonderful. This rotation that we just hung will be on exhibit now through October. Second and third floor stairwell.
