In seconds! Auxiliary & Legion Members, provided impromptu: Americanism, Community Outreach and Mentorship.

Senior Vice & the Auxiliary Historian, saw a grand opening sign for a new sushi restaurant. The teenage staff waited on them with the owner/Mother standing by. After listening to a few serving tips from the couple to the kids, she inquired about their backgrounds, and asked Senior Vice to educate the young staff. The Auxiliary's Historian provided Japanese & American cultural differences in regards to restaurant etiquette; while Senior focused on management and developing a server SOP. Both helped the staff work on social skills.

Each took time and educated the family's 1st American-Generation on U.S. customer service. And why? Because Americanism isn't just about waiving a flag or voting. Sometimes it's about talking the talk, after you've walked the walk.

The District event for McCandless was a success! Fishing, BBQ'ing, great weather, and most importantly camaraderie among our Veteran community! Thank you American Legion fam, for showing up and showing out!

Well, I'm so sorry! Pardon me, Soldier! It was "W**e & Crafts Night", I came to relax. If you want to see some REAL artists they'll be at the Post on the 3rd, that's Saturday, as in tomorrow!
And P.S. I don't care if the Commander is AF either, it's GO NAVY! ⚓

Post 5 is about progress...
The question, "how can we improve our post?" is a source of contemplation for our active members.
What we know for sure, is that the direction and attitude of Executive Leadership can impact an environment. Therefore, we believe in the growth & mentorship of our Lindstrom Leaders. We are a group of individuals open to learning and developing for the good of our military community!

For our Veterans that organized today, sincerest appreciation and a job well done!

A big thank you to Gold Hill Division- Colorado Springs Police Department for letting us use their space and supporting the American Legion.

Today marks the POW-MIA RECOGNITION day. The POW-MIA Flag gives an image that has come to mean so much to so many in the veteran's community.
The Origins of the POW-MIA Flag: Designed in 1971 by Newt Heisley for the National League of Families of Prisoners of War and Missing in Action in Southeast Asia. In 1982 became the first flag other than the Stars and Stripes to over the White House in Washington DC.
Let us never forget.

Today is the US Air Force 79th birthday. Tracing its origins to 1 August 1907, as a part of the United States Army Signal Corps, the Air Force was established by transfer of personnel from the Army Air Forces with the enactment of the National Security Act of 1947. It is the second youngest branch of the United States Armed Forces.
To all that have served, are serving and will serve in the USAF we at Post 5 thank you.
