Grant applications are now open for the Colonial Beach Community Foundation (CBCF) Community Crisis Fund Grants supporting food pantries in the 22443 zip code.

We encourage food pantries to submit grant requests to help support clients by providing grocery store gift cards. With rising costs at the stores and the need for perishable items that the food pantries can’t stock, we support grant funds to purchase gift cards for the clientele.

Food pantries are encouraged to submit the easy application by October 16 for consideration. Click here for the application: https://www.cbcommunityfoundation.org/grants or send an email to [email protected].

Thank you for spending your rainy Saturday morning with us!

We appreciate everyone who joined us to learn more about financial strategies for saving money in retirement. And a special thank-you to Dan Bender from PBMares for coming to Colonial Beach and sharing his knowledge and expertise. If you weren't able to attend and would like a copy of Dan's presentation, let us know and we'll get a copy to you.

We heard from many of you that you’d like to learn more about Medicare and supplemental insurance options. We’re listening! We’re planning a November meetup with a representative from Bay Aging to talk about SHIP https://www.shiphelp.org/ and https://myfreemedicarecounseling.org/ Get answers your questions.

We also want to know what works best for you. When would you be most likely to attend a community education event?

Mornings? Evenings? Weekends?

Let us know in the comments. Your feedback will help us plan future programs that are useful—and convenient—for our community.

Did you know that we now have Dolly Parton's Imagination Library in Colonial Beach?

Children ages 0 to 5 that register receive a free book mailed to them each month. We have 127 children currently registered.

Every donation the Colonial Beach Community Foundation's Dolly Parton Imagination Library fund receives goes directly to getting the books into the homes of our children.

On this "Dolly Parton Day" consider donating like Dolly or attending the fundraising event tonight at Colonial Beach Brewing. Just $31 supports one child for a year.

You can make a direct donation to the Colonial Beach Community Foundation at https://givebutter.com/CBDollyPartonImaginationLibrary.

Thank you for helping us develop a love of reading and promote literacy to our CB children!

Today is Give Like Dolly Day! ❤️

Dolly believed that when you’re in a position to help, you should help. She gave generously, dreamed big for children and spent her life finding ways to make a difference in the lives of others.

Today, we’re carrying that spirit forward.

📚 We invite you to by supporting children in your own community. Find your local Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library program and discover how you can help put books into the homes of children where you live.

🫶 Help bring books to your community: If the Imagination Library isn’t available where you live, learn how you can help bring a local program to your community. Visit imaginationlibrary.com and select your country from the main menu to explore how to get started.

Every community has an opportunity to give a little love, lend a hand and help a child dream a little bigger.
