Sabrina & Leif said "I do" surrounded by two centuries of history, and we're still thinking about it. 🀍β›ͺ

There's something special about a ceremony space that's held nearly two centuries of history β€” and now holds this memory too. Congratulations, Sabrina and Leif!

If you're picturing an intimate, historic ceremony of your own, we'd love to help make it happen. Link in bio for wedding info. πŸ’

🌿 Did You Know that The Chapel Restoration's Chancery Building has a green roof?

Nestled among the trees, this living roof is more than just a beautiful feature β€” it's a functioning ecosystem. Swipe through to see it finished, and the hands that helped bring it to life. ➑️

Green roofs like ours:
🌱 Absorb and filter stormwater runoff
🐝 Provide habitat for pollinators and birds
🌑️ Naturally insulate the building, reducing energy use
🏞️ Blend seamlessly into the Hudson Highlands landscape

Planted with native species, this green roof reflects our commitment to environmental stewardship β€” a value that guides our ongoing grounds restoration work across the whole Chapel property.

Next time you visit, look up! 🌿

"The Sunset Reading Series in Cold Spring is one of the most elegant, beautiful venues I've ever read in... clearly the people drawn to the series are passionate, active readers, the kind of audience every writer hopes for."
β€” Mary Gaitskill

That's the magic of Sunset Readings β€” the serene Chapel and the Hudson's dramatic backdrop make it a special place for writers and audiences to connect. πŸŒ…πŸ“–

Wine, cheese, and great conversation on the portico after every talk β€” that's how we wrap up each evening.

Join us next for Joseph Luzzi, reading from The Innocents of Florence: The Renaissance Discovery of Childhood β€” one of The New Yorker's Best Books of 2025.

Did you know? πŸ›οΈ Our chapel was built in 1833 to serve the Irish immigrants who worked at the nearby West Point Foundry β€” with the land and funds donated by foundry owner Gouverneur Kemble. It was designed by Thomas Kelah Wharton, an English immigrant who was just 19 years old at the time.

After being abandoned in 1906, the chapel sat as a ruin for decades β€” until a group including actress Helen Hayes purchased and restored it in the 1970s. Today it's listed on the National Register of Historic Places and lives on as a nondenominational home for music, readings, weddings, and community.

Nearly 200 years later, we're still here on the banks of the Hudson β€” and we'd love for you to be part of the next chapter. πŸ’›
