The weekly services at the Highlands Chapel, (home to the Highlands Choral Society), are lay lead, and while they follow the basic structure of the Episcopal Morning Prayer Service, there is a huge amount of room for Agnostics and other non-Christians to feel welcome, engaged and respected. Sometimes, (like leading up to Holy Week), the services are more focused on Christian traditions and prayers

. At other times the services are defined by great poetry, readings from other Spiritual Leaders, (Thich Nhat Hahn, Frederick Buechner), and more Holy Spirit driven hymns and prayers. Each week, an individual gives a ten minute Reflection on a subject important to them, (avoiding hot political topics). The talks are varied and always interesting, from the latest breakthroughs on measuring dark matter to partnering with horses to empower people. Occasionally, a member of the Clergy will offer communion and deliver a Sermon. But for a random Rogers and Hammerstein song, the music is Sacred and is a defining factor of every service. Preludes and Postludes played by Dr. Durward Entrekin on the organ or piano bookend the hour of prayers, readings, hymns and a Choral Anthem. The services are followed by a Coffee Hour and for those interested, a Book Group discussion, (My Antonia, Wm Blake vs the World, Dante's Inferno). A fully staffed Children's Hour is available during the service, Youth Choir will resume in May.
