Constitution Island Association

Constitution Island Association The Constitution Island Association was founded in 1916. The Association is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. All contributions are tax deductible.

Member contributions have maintained the Warner House for over 90 years. Constitution Island is part of West Point, the United States Military Academy, a National Registered Landmark. The Island is most famous for the Great Chain that was placed across the Hudson during the Revolutionary War and the Warner family who lived on the Island during the 19th century. The Warner House and ruins of the Re

volutionary War fortifications are the primary points of interest. The Island's 280 acres are covered with hiking trails that are enjoyed by the Island's visitors. The Constitution Island Association was founded in 1916 to preserve and protect the history and traditions of this unique American site.

West Point's Constitution Island, the Hudson River Valley Institute at Marist College, the 5th New York Regiment, the Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area, and the Constitution Island Association will host its annual Reenactment Day on Saturday, 25 August 2012 for the West Point community and the general public from 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. 50 uniformed troops representing the American Revolution and the Civil War will perform an array of activities to include: tactical weapon demonstrations, inspections, formations, musket firings, artillery demonstrations, camp life, and drills. The event will feature non-stop activities depicting General Israel Putnam’s efforts to defend Fort Constitution in October 1777, the 235th anniversary of the Saratoga Campaign. This year's event will once again include a Civil War camp to remember the Hudson River Valley’s contribution to the Union as a part of the Sesquicentennial of the bloodiest of America’s wars, remembering President Abraham Lincoln’s secret visit to the West Point Foundry and West Point. Enter Constitution Island through the Cold Spring Metro-North Train Station I will include a few other things I may have forgotten. Launches will be Leaving WP every hour on the 1/2 hour starting at 9:30 AM. Last boat departs West Point @ 2:30 PM. The donation is $10 for adults and $5 for seniors and children under 16. Visitors need a photo ID to enter West Point and should schedule extra time for a security check, usually no more than 10-15 minutes. If not boarding at the South Dock at West Point, visitors should come to the Metro North train station in Cold Spring, NY. Parking is free and a shuttle bus will bring visitors on to the island on a 10-15 minute schedule

Family Day is celebrated at Constitution Island on September 24. The last special event of the season, Family Day is a perennial favorite. We invite guests to bring a picnic lunch and enjoy special events including animals to pet and photograph from Tilly Foster Farm, horse and wagon rides, Hudson river boat rides, birds of prey from Teatown Reservation, guided nature walks, hiking throughout the island and much, much more.

Event hours are 10 AM until 4 PM. Food from the Chalet on the Hudson will be available for purchase. Free parking is ava...

Event hours are 10 AM until 4 PM. Food from the Chalet on the Hudson will be available for purchase. Free parking is available at Cold Spring train station and a shuttle bus will be running to the island throughout the day. The suggested donation is $10 for adults and $5 for children and seniors. There is free admission for children under six years old. Family Day is supported by Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corporation.
