Please join us for our annual Día de los Mu***os celebration on November 3rd from 3:15 to 4:15 in the Haldane garden! All are welcome!

Día de los Mu***os, or Day of the Dead, is a community celebration to honor the lives of loved ones who have passed. It combines the ancient Mexica observance of celebrating ancestors with All Souls’ Day.

The holiday is now celebrated by many Latin American countries and people of Mexican descent, each with their own customs and traditions.

Día de los Mu***os is on November 1st & 2nd each year. It is a joyful time to share memories.

Happy Juneteenth!

Juneteenth celebrates the end of slavery in the United States. It is also known as Emancipation Day, Freedom Day, Jubilee Day, Juneteenth Independence Day, and Black Independence Day. On June 19, 1865, Major General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, TX, and announced the end of the civil war and the end of slavery.

Although the Emancipation Proclamation came 2.5 years earlier on January 1, 1863, many enslavers continued to hold enslaved Black people captive after the announcement, and Juneteenth became a symbolic date representing African-American freedom.

It also emphasizes education and achievement internationally. Juneteenth is a day, a week, and in some areas a month marked with celebrations, guest speakers, picnics and family.

Juneteenth is a great day to talk to your kids about racism.

Every Child. One Voice.

PTA’s mission is to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children.

The National PTA mission statement highlights diversity as one of their core values stating: “We acknowledge the potential of everyone without regard, including but not limited to: age, culture, economic status, educational background, ethnicity, gender, geographic location, legal status, marital status, mental ability, national origin, organizational position, parental status, physical ability, political philosophy, race, religion, sexual orientation, and work experience.”

The Haldane PTA is diligently working with our Board of Education in an effort to reinstate DEI Policy #3430 as soon as possible.

If you’re not yet a member of the Haldane PTA, we encourage you to join to further amplify our voices. If you want to offer help or need any support at this time, please reach out to:
