Philipstown Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

Local volunteers assisting in their community. Providing emergency medical services to philipstown. Currently respond to over 700 emergency calls yearly.

Provides 2 ambulances in house. PVAC offers CPR training, driver training on ambulances, and sponsoring for emergency medical technician schooling. We work together with local fire departments North Highlands FD and Cold Spring FD. Philipstown responds to A variety of different calls from ill patients to motor vehicle accidents and mountain rescues. PVAC is always looking for new applicants to volunteer. Ages 16 and up. Yesterday at approximately 4:52 PM, the Philipstown Volunteer Ambulance Corps was requested to provide mutual aid into Garrison for a reported vehicle accident involving downed power lines on the vehicle. Recognizing that the incident involved multiple patients, the Philipstown crew requested a second ambulance. Philipstown’s second ambulance responded to assist. This accident serves as an important reminder. If you are involved in a crash and power lines are down on or near your vehicle, do not exit the vehicle unless there is an immediate life-threatening hazard such as fire. Wait until the utility company and first responders have confirmed it is safe to exit. Downed power lines may still be energized and can pose an extreme risk to life and safety.

This morning at approximately 10:38 a.m., Philipstown Volunteer Ambulance Corps was requested to provide mutual aid to the Town of Putnam Valley as the second ambulance for a reported rollover motor vehicle collision with possible car fire.
Our crew responded promptly to assist the on-scene agencies and provided patient care and transportation support as part of the coordinated emergency response. Philipstown Volunteer Ambulance Corps is proud to assist our neighboring agencies whenever requested.

Earlier this week Philipstown VAC went through extensive training for emergency vehicle operator course. We would like to thank Putnam County BOES and Putnam Valley VAC for hosting the class.

Today at 16:30 Philipstown Ambulance along with North Highlands Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle accident reporting one van in the woods after striking a telephone pole with injuries. Both 33-7-1 and 33-7-2 assisted with patient care while the Fire Department isolated the hazardous incidents in the road with the telephone pole and live wires down on the roadway.
