Mission

Sikh Family Center promotes community health and well-being with a special focus on gender justice. We provide trauma-centered interventions for victim-survivors of violence while working to change the social and cultural conditions that allow gendered violence to occur in the first place. Our training, outreach, and advocacy are grounded in cultural tradition, g

rassroots power, and intergenerational healing. Values

- Serving the Whole Community.
- Building Grassroots Power.
- Centering Intergenerational Trauma & Healing.
- Striving for Racial and Gender Justice.
- Wellness for All. Our Team

In all its activities, Sikh Family Center relies heavily on appropriate partnerships as well as its core group of volunteers. The core group captures a range of professional qualifications and individual competencies, including family physicians, mental health professionals, community organizers, writers, students, youth counselors, domestic violence advocates, attorneys, academics, gurudwara leaders, teachers, and youth activists. September is ***depreventionawarenessmonth

Today, we share the journey of Karanpreet* Singh, whom worked with as he moved from feeling trapped in dark thoughts during a difficult time to feeling confident in his ability to keep himself and his family safe.

Saver Hovegi (Morning Will Come), challenges a common misconception that everyone who experiences suicidal thoughts or attempts su***de has a mental illness. In fact, life stressors such as domestic violence, grief, trauma, child sexual abuse, chronic illness, and legal problems can also increase the risk of self harm or su***de.

If you or someone you love experience thoughts of self harm or su***de, you are not alone. Resources are available including 24/7 crisis lines to talk to trained professionals and access appropriate supportive services.
