🏈❤️💛 Iowa vs. Iowa State… but this time, EVERYONE wins! ❤️💛🏈

A huge THANK YOU to MercyOne Health & Fitness Center MercyOne for putting together an Iowa/Iowa State style donation drive for Clive Community Services!

Whether you bleed black and gold or cardinal and gold, we can all agree on one thing: our community showing up for our neighbors is a win. 🥰

We are so grateful for the generosity, teamwork and fun behind this drive. Every donation helps us keep our pantry shelves stocked and provide food and other essentials to local families who need a little extra help.

Did your husband recently retire?

Has he reorganized the garage… twice?
Rearranged the kitchen cabinets?
Started explaining to you how to load the dishwasher correctly? 😂

We have a solution.

Send him to CCS! 😂❤️

We need at least 2 more pantry volunteers on Mondays and Thursdays from 9 AM–1 PM, especially Mondays.

You’ll help with deliveries, getting food where it needs to go, and organizing the pantry before families arrive for services.

There is some lifting, but nothing super heavy. Mostly we need extra hands, a little organization, and people who don't mind staying busy.

And don't worry, it doesn't actually have to be your retired husband. 😂 Retirees, empty nesters, people with a few extra hours, or anyone looking for a way to help are all welcome!

Come help us keep the pantry moving… and give your spouse a much-needed break from having you around the house all day. 😂❤️

Please contact our director at [email protected] for more information!

Representation matters. ❤️

Food isn't just about putting food on the table. Sometimes it's about finding the things that make a meal taste a little more familiar.

We are so thankful for our partnerships with DMARC and the Food Bank of Iowa, but also for the local businesses and wholesalers who help us make this happen.

One local Latino wholesaler has been incredibly generous in helping us bring in foods our families know, recognize and love. And honestly, we love seeing those items on our shelves.

When families come through CCS, we want them to find fresh fruits and veggies, everyday staples, and maybe some of the foods they grew up eating.

Sometimes serving our neighbors means looking a little beyond the traditional food pantry box and finding what people actually need. We've always felt like if we're asking families to let us help them, the least we can do is make sure we're listening to what they actually want and need. ❤️

And if we can put something on a shelf that makes a client smile because they know exactly what they're going to make with it, that's a pretty good day at CCS.

CCS might only be open for pantry services on Mondays and Fridays, but food insecurity apparently did NOT get our business hours memo. 😂

Families need food every single day, which is why we regularly do food rescues and produce pickups from two local wholesalers.

And today… they REALLY showed up.

🥕🍎🥦 **1,105 POUNDS OF FOOD RESCUED!** 🥦🍎🥕

Now, I love our CCS families, but even I have to admit… **1,105 pounds is A LOT of food for our little pantry.** 😂

So what do we do when CCS gets more food than we can possibly go through?

We call our neighbors. 😂

And luckily, our neighbors are pretty awesome.

Crestview School of Inquiry is literally right next door, and we regularly share rescued food and fresh produce with them. They have become our “Heyyyy… we have a LOT of food over here” people. 😂

And there's something pretty special about that.

**CCS actually started a decade ago because the people who founded it were seeing a need among families connected to Crestview and knew our community needed somewhere to turn.**

Ten years later, here we are.

Still next door.
Still helping families.
Still seeing the need.
And now we're regularly sharing food right back with the school where this whole idea began. ❤️

It works out pretty perfectly because so many of the kiddos who come through CCS are also Crestview students.

So today, instead of me standing in the pantry staring at 1,105 pounds of food wondering where in the world I'm going to put it all, some of it gets to make its way next door to help feed Crestview kiddos and families.

It's basically the best kind of neighbor situation:

**“Hey Crestview, want some food?”**
“Absolutely.”
**“Great, because we have A LOT.”** 😂

This is what community looks like.

Food that could have gone to waste gets shared.
Kids get access to fresh, healthy food.
Families get a little extra help.
And CCS doesn't have to figure out how to build a second pantry in the parking lot. 😂

Okay friends… I did some diaper math today and honestly, I’m a little concerned about how many tiny butts we are keeping clean over here. 😂

Since January 1 through September 20, CCS has handed out:

🍼 3,857 size 6 diapers
🍼 4,599 size 7 diapers

That is 8,456 diapers.
EIGHT THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED AND FIFTY-SIX. 😳

At roughly 50¢ a diaper, that's more than $4,200 worth of diapers that families didn't have to squeeze into an already tight grocery budget.

And THIS is why I keep begging for size 6 and size 7 diapers. 😂

We go through these sizes like nobody's business. And before you ask… yes, I promise you we really do need them. The numbers don't lie!

So if you see a sale on size 6 or 7, grab a box for CCS. Tell your church. Tell your workplace. Tell your neighbor. Tell that friend who always says, “I don't know what to donate.” 😂

THIS. THESE. BIG DIAPERS.

Because a box of diapers might not feel like a huge donation, but when you add up 8,456 diapers, it becomes a whole lot of help for a whole lot of families. ❤️

So please help me keep those shelves stocked.

SIZE 6 & SIZE 7 ARE OUR BIGGEST DIAPER NEED RIGHT NOW!

And from me, the families we serve, and approximately 8,456 tiny tushies… THANK YOU. 😂❤️

Last month, our CCS family was busy making sure our neighbors had what they needed, and we couldn't do it without YOU!

🥫 163 DMARC families served, reaching 634 people 🏠 169 visits to our Anytime Room 👕 267 visits to our Clothing Closet

Every number represents a family, a neighbor, and someone who knows they have a place to turn when they need a little extra help.

To our amazing volunteers, donors, and supporters, THANK YOU for being part of what makes Clive Community Services so special. You are making a difference right here in our community, one visit at a time. 💚
