Today we provided 90 clean up kits to Polk County Emergency Management Agency, Iowa to hand out to residents recently affected by heavy rain. If you or someone you know needs one, please reach out to one of our agencies, and we'll be happy to help

After 9/11, countless people stepped forward to serve when their communities needed them most.

Salvation Army officers worked around the clock providing food, water, and comfort, while neighbors helped neighbors in simple but powerful ways. Together, these unsung heroes brought hope and healing during one of our nation's most difficult moments.

25 years later, their example reminds us of the power of simply showing up for others.

It’s late August. Backpacks are being packed, school supplies are being checked off lists, and families all across our community are getting ready for another school year.

But for some families, this season brings another question:

How do we stretch the grocery budget, too?

The Salvation Army food pantry is here to help—and right now, we could use a little help from our community.

As you can see, we have plenty of room on these shelves. If you’re grocery shopping this week, would you consider picking up a few extra shelf-stable items for a neighbor?

🥫 Canned vegetables and fruit (specifically corn and applesauce)
🥫 Soups, beans and canned proteins
🥜 Peanut butter
🍝 Pasta and pasta sauce
🥣 Cereal and oatmeal
🍚 Rice and boxed meals
🧃 Kid-friendly, easy-to-pack foods

A few cans. A grocery bag. A trunk full. It all matters.

Because when a family is trying to get kids ready for school, food should be one less thing they have to worry about.

Help us fill these shelves—and help our neighbors start the school year a little stronger. ❤️

Donations can be dropped off at The Salvation Army, 1400 NW 100th Street, Clive, Iowa from 8:30-4:30. Or call 515.282.3599 for other drop off options.

Please share this post, too. Sometimes filling a pantry starts simply by letting the right people know there’s a need.
