As Rotarians, we believe in “Service Above Self.” That simple phrase has guided our Clio Rotary Club for a century!
Rotary focuses on creating lasting change through what we call our Areas of Focus — promoting peace, fighting disease, providing clean water and sanitation, supporting education, growing local economies, protecting the environment, and improving the health of mothers and children.
Our scholarship applicants were asked to choose one of these Rotary areas of focus and tell us why he or she believed it was the most important of all.
Our awarded senior wrote this: “ Improving maternal and child health creates a chain reaction of positive impact- it helps mothers and their children be healthier and happier, resulting in positive family dynamics, which then results in a stronger, more connected community.” and we couldn't agree more.
This year's Clio Rotary Club Scholarship recipient of $2,000 is Sophie Wetherell!
