As you may have heard, the Hillsboro, Oregon Police Department lost Motor Officer and NAMOA Member Scott Hanley on January 25th, 2026, after an off-duty medical event. He was 55 and planned to retire later this year.

Officer Hanley was a nearly 26-year veteran of policing, starting with the Scappoose Police Department in 2000 and with HPD since 2008. He was in his second stint on the traffic unit as a motor officer. He is survived by his wife and two sons.

His family requests a law enforcement memorial service with active-duty honors and all available motor officers. The service is scheduled for Friday, February 6, 2026, at 1000 hours at Athey Creek West Linn Campus (2700 SW Ek Road, West Linn, Oregon 97068).

Motor officers are to arrive at 0800hrs. Bikes should be cleaned for static honors please
