A fascinating account of a hike in Norway!

In Norway’s Smøla wind farm, scientists found a clever way to protect birds from wind turbines. By painting just one blade black, bird deaths dropped by nearly 70%, especially among large birds like eagles and hawks.

Normally, fast-spinning blades blur together, making them hard for birds to notice. The single black blade breaks this illusion, helping them steer clear.

This simple, low-cost solution shows how small changes can make renewable energy safer for wildlife. It proves that wind power can grow while still protecting nature’s most vulnerable creatures.
