“I think that's very hard for the younger artist. We look at too much social media, Pinterest... too many galleries. In those formative years, there was no social media. It had to be what we ourselves wanted to do. Now we have to be cautious and absorbing too much so we can stay true to our own voice.” ✨🎨

With a lifelong passion for capturing the delicate beauty of the natural world, Chris’s work invites you into a world of vibrant color and life. After transitioning away from commercial art to focus on drawing and painting, his signature butterfly scenes have become a stunning testament to his artistic journey.

Growing up just a block from a vast forest preserve, Chris’s connection to his subject matter is deeply personal and rooted in the summers of his childhood.

With an MFA from ECU and a career spanning decades, Pam’s work is a beautiful dance between memory and intuition. Inspired by her time spent among trees and open water, she uses a "collage-like" process to build narratives that invite you to pause and feel the energy within the canvas.

From international exhibitions in Montenegro and Turkey to designing the doors for a temple Ark, Pam’s vision knows no boundaries.

A "Happy Little Addition" to our Gallery Walls! 🎨✨
We are thrilled to showcase a new collection of student artwork by the talented Taylor Stranz, now hanging in the gallery!

Taylor’s work is deeply inspired by the legendary Bob Ross. Having followed his techniques and love for nature throughout her childhood, she brings that same sense of peace and "happy accidents" to her own canvases. Her landscapes are a must-see for anyone who appreciates the joy of the creative process.

A huge thank you to our board members, Marian Porter and Peter Butler, for their hard work in getting these beautiful pieces curated and hung for the community to enjoy.

We are absolutely thrilled to introduce our Summer 2026 Fellowship Cohort! Please help us give a warm ArtWorks welcome to Kensley Puryear and Emma Mitchell! 🎨

✨Last week, Emma and Kensley joined us at the gallery for their official orientation to get the complete lowdown on how ArtWorks functions behind the scenes. Our Managing Director, Krista Wiggins, alongside board member Paul Viser, met with them to show them the ropes, talk strategy, and dive into the exciting projects they’ll be leading over the next few months.

From capturing the stories of our local creators to helping keep our operations running smoothly, these two are going to bring so much talent and energy to 306 Vance Street.

We are so incredibly excited to have them with us this summer and can't wait for our visitors, artists, and community members to meet them!

An event of this scale doesn't just happen. A massive thank you to the City of Clinton, our wonderful community, and all of the partner organizations who poured their heart into making this evening such a success.

🎉 What an incredible finale to an amazing week! 🎭🎶
On Thursday, June 4, we officially wrapped up Sampson County ArtsCamp with a spectacular final presentation and showcase for our parents, friends, and family!

🎭 The students took the stage and put on a fantastic display of everything they learned this week—from energetic song and dance performances to creative visual arts and hands-on STEM projects. We are incredibly proud of every single camper who brought their energy, passion, and creativity to camp this year!

This unforgettable week would not have been possible without a massive team effort. We want to extend a huge thank you to:

🌟Our phenomenal teachers, staff, and board members who dedicated their time and talents to inspire these kids.

🌟 Sampson Community College for being such wonderful hosts and providing the perfect space for our camp.

🌟Our amazing organizational partners who help us make this impact every year: Sampson County Schools, Clinton City Schools, Clinton, North Carolina, and the Sampson Arts Council.
