While we won't have anywhere near 500.000 books to choose from, please keep in mind our annual book sale that will take place during Sugar Festival March 12th and 13th, If you have books you no longer want/need, please bring them to the library to donate. Audio books and video CDs are also welcome. Our fundraising helps pay for programs all year long. Thank you.

Virtual reality is a fun way to discover new environments, experience interactive activities, and see what technology has to offer.

This is Mary Thomas, Secretary of the Friends group. I want to make you aware of a drastic cut in funding that could be coming to impact both libraries and schools as the FCC considers cuts to the E-Rate for internet access. Below is what I posted in my own FB page.

I remember when the E-rate was started in 1996. I was on the library board then (as now) and we were just beginning to get computers for use by the public. It was wonderful that we could afford to provide internet access for the public as well as for library needs (check out, catalog, communication). It does the same for our schools that are required to test all students online. Most lesson plans and assignments are also online through platforms such as Google Classroom. So the government is requiring the use of the internet on one hand and then planning to cut availability with the other. Makes no sense to me. Please join me in letting the FCC know your thoughts. The FCC is examining whether E-rate should continue operating in its current form, and whether it should be narrowed or reoriented. Education officials urged schools to submit comments to the commission.
