Glades Lives Matter

Glades Lives Matter We represent the Glades Community because We are a family, the Glades Family.

The Glades is more than sugarcane and farm fields: we have restaurants, law firms, stores, schools, community centers, hospitals, and on Friday nights, we play a little football.

We love to see our Ambassador students shine bright. Laura Davila started her journey at Florida State University. She is continuing her Academic climb to grad school at University of Saint Augustine in Miami.

There are some students we have the opportunity to engage with, and we just know that they will impact the world tremendously, Laura is definitely one of those students.

Congratulations Glades Lives Matter is so proud of you.

Blessings when our children come back to the community that raised them!

Dear Glades County School District Family,

It is with great pleasure that I announce the appointment of Nichole Reese Murry, MPA as the new Chief Financial Officer for the Glades County School District. Nichole brings a wealth of experience, a deep commitment to public service, and—most importantly—a personal connection to our community that makes her an exceptional fit for this critical role.

Professional Background
Nichole comes to us with 22 years of public sector finance experience in the State of Florida, including 19 years at Florida A&M University. Most recently, she served as Acting Senior Vice President for Finance and Administration/Chief Financial Officer, where she oversaw a $470.5 million operating budget and led a team of 115 professionals.

She is well versed in governmental accounting, budget, and finance, with extensive experience in Florida public sector financial management, compliance, and reporting. Her background includes managing complex budgets, leading audit remediation efforts, and implementing process improvements.

Nichole holds a Master of Public Administration from Troy University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Quantitative Analysis. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Global Leadership with a concentration in Higher Education Administration and is a certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt practitioner.

A Daughter of Moore Haven
What makes Nichole's appointment especially meaningful is her deep connection to our community. Moore Haven is home to Nichole—it is where she grew up and where her roots run deep. She is the daughter of Dean and Gloria Reese, whose love, support, and sacrifices shaped the leader she has become.

Nichole is married to her husband, Stacy Murry, and is the proud mother of her son, AJ, an avid baseball player. Family, faith, and community are at the center of her life—values that will guide her service to our district.

For Nichole, joining the Glades County School District is not just a career move—it is a homecoming. She is returning to serve the community that raised her, and I have no doubt that her dedication and expertise will benefit our students, families, and staff for years to come.

In Nichole's own words: "I'm not here for the title—I'm here for the mission. This is my alma mater. I'm not building a résumé; I'm building a purpose and legacy."

Looking Ahead
I am confident that Nichole's leadership, expertise in governmental accounting and finance, and commitment to accountability and transparency will strengthen our district's financial operations. Her guiding principle—"What doesn't get measured doesn't get moved"—reflects the kind of disciplined, results-oriented approach we need as we work together to support student success.

Please join me in welcoming Nichole Reese Murry to the Glades County School District family. I encourage you to introduce yourself when you have the opportunity—her door will always be open.

Warm regards,
Dr. Alice Beth Barfield
Superintendent
Glades County School District
