We were recently sent this photo asking if we’d gotten to this colony for TNVR yet, but when they zoomed in they saw the left ear tips! ✂️

A left ear tip is the universal sign that a community cat has been spayed or neutered through TNVR (Trap, Neuter, Vaccinate, Release). Seeing those ear tips out in the community is always a nice reminder of the difference being made 🤍

❤️‍🩹 A few days ago, we were contacted about a newborn kitten who still had its umbilical cord attached. We’re already stretched thin and hoped mom would come back. Unfortunately, after two days, there was no sign of her or that she had been caring for it.

With few bottle feeders available, taking in newborns doesn’t happen often. Thankfully, Lupe reached out without hesitation and is bottle feeding this tiny babe while we work on securing rescue placement.

We’re grateful for everyone who played a part in saving this little one’s life. Please keep this baby in your thoughts, prayers, or positive wishes. We’re rooting for this little fighter.

📣 A quick reminder to keep a close eye on your pets when they’re outside.

One of our dogs got into a bufo toad this morning. Thankfully we caught it immediately. With symptoms potentially appearing anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour after exposure, we didn’t hesitate and started heading towards the vets office.

If your dog comes into contact with a bufo toad:

🐸 Wipe the gums, tongue, roof of the mouth, and inside the lips with a wet cloth for at least 5 minutes. Make sure to continuously rinse cloth in clean water to prevent spreading of toxins.

🐸 Watch for excessive foaming, drooling, red gums, disorientation, seizures, or collapse.

🐸 Contact a veterinarian right away.

Bufo toads are common especially during the warmer months and after rain. They’re often most active at dawn, dusk, and overnight. However, this happened just after 9AM when they’re usually not around. It was a reminder that accidents can happen in seconds. Had we not noticed right away, the outcome could have been much different. Always keep an eye on your pets when they’re outside and know what to do in an emergency.

We’re incredibly grateful our girl is okay and resting after a long day. Hopefully sharing our experience helps someone else be prepared.

A quick update on our recent emergency cases:

Unfortunately, our little amputee kitten passed away despite everyone’s best efforts. We are heartbroken 💔

Sabrina, the kitty with the worst mastitis we’ve ever seen, is still hospitalized. Despite everything she’s been through, she remains so loving.

Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers! If you’d like to help with her ongoing medical expenses, any donation means the world to us and to Sabrina.

Today’s been a day, and we need some help.

We had two emergency cases that required immediate care, but first we’d like to thank Anna, Bonnie, Julie, and Maria for jumping in to help today in many different ways! We’re also incredibly grateful to Okeechobee Veterinary Hospital for always fitting us in on short notice!

🏥 The first emergency involved two kittens suspected to have been bitten by a snake. Unfortunately, one kitten’s injuries were too severe, and we made the difficult decision to let him go peacefully. The other was stabilized and is getting ready for an amputation due to extensive infection and tissue damage.

🏥 The second emergency is a cat who appears to be suffering from severe mastitis. We’re still awaiting more information and hoping for the best outcome.

These were unexpected expenses, and any donations would help tremendously as we try not to dip into our spay and neuter funds. Thank you all for always showing up for the animals when they need it most ❤️‍🩹

🐔 Meet Coop, Peck, Henny, & Rooster!

This little crew is being treated for some eye issues, but they’re doing well and so incredibly sweet! Rooster didn’t want to cooperate in the group picture, so he got one on his own in the comments 💛
