We had a nice turnout for the Armed Forces Day Parade. The weather was outstanding, sonny with Goldilocks temperature. We were float number 59 out of 64, so even though we were near the end of the parade, the crowd was enthusiastic. A good time was had.

It is with great sadness that we inform you that Senior Chief Leland (Lee) Rogers has gone on eternal patrol at the age of 94. Many of his shipmates were there to see him off. He was a great shipmate, veteran, and he will be missed. Rest easy Chief, we have the watch.

Excellent food, outstanding weather, great companionship, good crowd. That summarizes the Haddo Base picnic this year. I am not sure what could have made our picnic better. Perhaps having a few shipmates from the Carbonero base would have helped.
We had 30 shipmates and family attending. Ray Costa prepared all the hamburgers and hotdogs and did an excellent job. We had a wide variety of great side dishes brought by our members. The only bad thing about the picnic was that the 50/50 was won by our commander, Brian (booooo).
