Yesterday, The 24/7 Movement had a great day on the campus of the University of Memphis for their Drive Safe Campaign, talking with college students about the dangers of impaired and distracted driving.
Matt Dillard and Kevin Felton did an incredible job engaging students and sharing our story at the trailer with the Dillard SUV from the Christmas Day crash.
One of the highlights of the day was meeting Yirah, a U of M freshman who was a senior at Collierville High School when we presented our “Choices Matter” assembly in April. She shared how our story impacted her—and that just a week ago, she stopped a friend from getting behind the wheel impaired. That’s what this mission is all about. Way to go, Yirah!
We also introduced our new “Choices Matter Speed Challenge.” The impaired driver who killed Dustin and Brittany on Christmas Day was not only driving drunk, but was also traveling approximately 80 mph in a 55 mph zone. The Speed Challenge gives us another way to remind students that speed belongs on the field—not on the road.
Today, we’re headed to St. George’s High School in the Collierville/Memphis area for a “Choices Matter” assembly with their students.
Choices Matter. Buckle Up. Phone Down. Drive Sober.
