Dear Johnson County Community,

UPDATE ON THE WORKSHOP: Due to a miscommunication error, the “Free Will & Trust Workshop,” scheduled for October 15, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. at our location IS A LEGITIMATE event with a recognized non-profit, The Association of Financial Consultants.

---------------------------------------------

We are aware of the mailers and online advertisements promoting the “Free Will & Trust Workshop,” reportedly scheduled for October 15, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. at our location.

However, the organization hosting this event has not contacted us to schedule or confirm its use of our facilities.

Given the circumstances, we want to ensure our community is aware that this event has not been confirmed with us, and we have not been able to contact the organization.

Out of an abundance of caution, we have also notified the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, who are looking into the matter.

We understand that many members of our community are interested in this workshop, and we share your desire for clarity and peace of mind.

We are taking the necessary steps to verify the legitimacy of this event and to help ensure the safety and well-being of everyone in our community.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to resolve this matter.

We will share additional information as it becomes available.

Sincerely,
Johnson County Public Library

🧥🍂 Our Coat Tree Is Back!

With the weather starting to cool down, our community coat tree is back at the library! We missed having it last year while we were under construction, but Korri has it all set up and ready to go for another season. This year, we have a coat rack with more space for everyone!

If you or someone you know needs a little extra warmth this fall and winter, please stop by and take what you need! We have jackets, coats, and sweaters available.

A few reminders:
▪️ We are not accepting donations at this time.
▪️ Please take only what you need so there is enough for others.
▪️ We are only offering jackets, coats, sweaters, gloves, hats, and scarves. Please do not leave or look for shoes, jewelry, blouses, or other items.

We’re glad to bring this resource back to our community. Stay warm out there! 🍁

📚 Another 100 books down!

Liam has reached 100 books on his way to 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten! He stopped by the library to pick up his prize and move his caterpillar up our Wall of Fame. 🐛⭐

Help us congratulate Liam on this big reading milestone! 🎉

🦇 Villa Crest Academy learned all about bats today! We visited with the K-7th grade classes, where we talked about just a few of the 1,500 species of bats in the world. The kids were especially shocked to learn that the biggest bat, the golden-crowned flying fox, could be almost as big as Ms. Lydia! 😲

We read "Bats in the Library" by Brian Lies and "Hello, Bumblebee Bat" by Darrin Lunde and then made our own bats with coffee filters, markers, water, and clothespins. 🦇📚
