Junior Auxiliary of Johnson County, AR

Junior Auxiliary of Johnson County, AR The Clarksville chapter of Junior Auxiliary has two finance projects. In the fall, we host a Chili and Chocolate Cake Supper.

The National Association of Junior Auxiliaries is a non-profit organization dedicated to community improvements by meeting the needs of children, youth, and family. In the spring, we hold an annual Golf Tournament. The fundraisers enable us to provide for even more children in our community than ever before. In addition to the finance projects, we also receive community contributions and grants.

Today we proudly celebrate our JA members who serve as nurses โ€” the compassionate hearts, steady hands, and everyday heroes who care for others when they need it most.

Your dedication, strength, and selflessness do not go unnoticed. Whether youโ€™re working long shifts, comforting patients and families, or making a difference behind the scenes, you embody what it means to serve your community with excellence and compassion.

Thank you for all that you do โ€” today and every day. Happy National Nurses Day from all of us at JAJOCO! ๐Ÿฉบ๐Ÿ’™

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week ๐ŸŽโœจ! This week we're celebrating the superheroes who somehow manage to teach us stuff while simultaneously babysitting us...TEACHERS! ๐ŸŒŸ Without their caffeine-fueled patience, endless supply of stickers, and ability to make multiplication tables sound exciting, we'd all be lost! THANK YOU! Especially to our 30+ rockstars who go above and beyond for the tiny humans of JOCO every single day, making learning a blast and our futures slightly less terrifying! ๐ŸŒˆ

Happy JA Week! Junior Auxiliary has chosen a National Focus of โ€œDisconnect to Reconnect - Break the Cycle,โ€ which encourages prioritizing quality time with loved ones by putting aside the devices that have become ubiquitous in our daily lives. While they undoubtedly enhance our productivity, we often allow them to distract us from those who deserve our time most. The National Focus has opened the door for conversations and projects centered around reducing screen time, how to use social media responsibly and the struggles many children are facing with body image. These crucial conversations could not have come at a more appropriate time, as our youth find themselves with more access to technology every day.

Junior Auxiliary encourages projects that are centered around the National Focus to ensure we are addressing issues relevant to the children we serve.

As we kick off JA Week 2026, we would like to share how our organization began more than 85 years ago.

Our history originally started amid the Great Depression in 1935. Two doctors in Greenville, MS, Dr. Montgomery and Dr. Gamble, contacted the society editor of the Delta Democrat Times, Louise Crump, for help. These doctors saw daily the plight of Greenvilleโ€™s children living in back alleys and on shanty boats on the river. They asked Crump to solicit the aid of her friends in providing food, clothing and toys, along with transportation to the doctorsโ€™ and dentistsโ€™ offices. She contacted nine women who met with her in her home. They assessed themselves $5 each to begin their work. They convinced businesses and other individuals in Greenville to provide services and goods. Local dentists and doctors donated their time, and membership grew.

The Greenville women realized that there were similar groups of women in other towns, and by 1940 they began meeting with some of them in the Mississippi and Arkansas Delta. They joined forces, and using the National Junior League as a model, they created a constitution on Nov. 14,1941 with Crump as the first NAJA president. The charter chapters were McComb, Greenville, Greenwood, Leland, Laurel, Meridian, Vicksburg and West Point, MS; and Pine Bluff and Russellville, AR.

Today there are 83 chapters with more than 16,000 members in seven Southeastern states. Chapters find needs that are not being met in their communities and develop projects to meet those needs.
