You call it helping family.

You call it doing what’s expected.

You call it being a daughter, son, mother, father, auntie, uncle, or grandparent.

But what you’re doing has a name:

Caregiving.

Many Black adults are part of the “sandwich generation”—caring for aging parents while raising children at the same time. It can be rewarding, but it can also be exhausting.

If you’ve ever felt like everyone depends on you and nobody checks on you, this is your reminder:

Your health matters too.

Join our Caregiver Support Series on June 20 and connect with others who understand the unique challenges of caring for loved ones while trying to care for yourself.

🚨 Could you save someone you love?

Most of us assume we’d know what to do in an emergency.

But when a heart stops beating or a child starts choking, panic can take over.

That’s why CPR Awareness Week matters.

This video is a look back at one of our CPR trainings, where community members learned lifesaving skills that could make all the difference in a critical moment.

❤️ CPR can help keep blood flowing to the brain and vital organs until emergency responders arrive.

❤️ Learning CPR takes just a few hours.

❤️ The life you save could be someone you know.

Don’t wait for an emergency to wish you had the training.

📌 Save this post as a reminder.
📤 Share it with someone who needs to learn CPR.
💬 Tell us: Have you ever had to perform CPR or help someone who was choking?

Men’s Health Month is a reminder that prevention is powerful.

Many of the most common health conditions affecting men—including heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, and certain cancers—can be managed or even prevented through regular screenings and healthy lifestyle choices.

This month, challenge yourself or the men in your life to:

✔ Know your numbers
✔ Prioritize heart health
✔ Check in on mental health
✔ Stay up to date on screenings
✔ Schedule preventive care

Your health matters. And taking care of yourself helps you continue showing up for the people who depend on you.

Health outcomes are shaped by more than what happens inside a doctor’s office.

Access to support, education, accountability, and community resources all play a critical role in helping individuals and families live healthier lives.

This summer, Center for Closing the Health Gap is continuing its commitment to health equity through two impactful programs:

• Caregiver Support Series (June 20) – providing resources, connection, and support for those caring for loved ones.

• Diabetes Challenge – empowering participants with coaching, fitness, nutrition education, and accountability to improve health outcomes and reduce the burden of chronic disease.

Programs like these help move us beyond awareness and toward action.

When was the last time someone checked on YOU?

Caregiving can be rewarding, but it can also feel exhausting, isolating, and overwhelming at times – especially when you’re caring for a loved one over 60.

Here are three ways to take care of YOURSELF.

If these are hitting the spot, our Caregiver Support Series is for you.

This is a space where caregivers can:
💜 connect with other others who understand
💜 game practical tools and resources
💜 prioritize their own well-being
💜 find encouragement and community

You do not have to carry it all alone.

Join us for our next FREE session on June 20.

Doing the right things for your health doesn’t have to start with a major life overhaul — it starts with one better choice at a time.

The Do Right! Campaign is about helping our communities eat right, live right, and move right through small changes that lead to healthier futures.

What’s one thing you can change this week? 🥗💧

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

We also recognize the sacrifice, courage, and dedication that made those moments possible.

At The Center for Closing the Health Gap, we remain committed to building healthier, stronger communities for all — because honoring service also means investing in the well-being of the people around us.

Today we remember. 🇺🇸
Every day we recommit.

Taking care of your health looks different for everyone— but it takes support from ALL OF US!

For some, it’s learning how to better manage diabetes through nutrition, movement, and accountability.
For others, it’s learning how to care for themselves while caring for someone they love.

At Closing the Health Gap, we’re creating spaces that support BOTH. ✨

✔️ Join our 12-Week Diabetes Challenge to gain the tools, coaching, and support to take control of your health.
✔️ Join our Caregiver Support Series to prioritize your wellbeing while caring for others on June 20th

Because healthy communities start with healthy people.

It starts with YOU.

Your blood pressure doesn’t care if you’re “trying to avoid meds.” 👀

Sometimes the healthiest thing you can do is use every tool available to protect your future.

Dr. Quesada keeps it real:
“It doesn’t matter how you get there… just know your numbers.”

And honestly?
That’s what preventative care is all about.

Too many people delay treatment because of fear, stigma, or the idea that taking medication means they failed somehow.

Let’s debunk that myth right now.

Managing your:
✔️ blood pressure
✔️ cholesterol
✔️ blood sugar
✔️ heart health

…can help reduce your risk of heart disease and stroke before it becomes an emergency.

Medication can be part of the solution.
Lifestyle changes can be part of the solution.
Preventative care is about staying here longer and healthier. 💜

Know your numbers. Protect your health.
