Cohort 6-Graduated AHEC Scholar Highlights:
I am honored to be a UC AHEC Scholar and to have participated in a program dedicated to improving health equity and serving underserved communities. Through, AHEC I engaged in hands-on learning modules, community health documentary discussions, and workshops on topics ranging from rural health disparities and social determinants of health to mental health, addiction, and telehealth innovation. These experiences allowed me to understand not only the medical challenges faced by rural and underserved populations but also the social, cultural, and systemic factors that impact health outcomes.
As a Scholar, I have applied these lessons by participating initiatives such as “Stop the Bleed,” local community health events, and educational programs that empower individuals to take control of their health. These experiences strengthen my commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care and reinforced my desire to address healthcare disparities at both the community and systemic level.
Looking ahead, I plan to pursue a career in medicine with a focus on serving underserved communities, integrating clinical care with public health advocacy, while continuing to foster initiatives that improve access, equity, and quality of healthcare.
