Our digital media campaigns, search and retargeting advertisements and social media platforms interrupt new puppy buyers, educating them before they buy, so they can make better choices. The internet is a 24/7 unmonitored marketplace and online puppy sales are skyrocketing. Puppy mills are high volume dog breeders who sell puppies for profit. Any dog breeder can be a puppy mill. The innocent dogs that are caged for breeding - the ones making all of the puppies, lives a life of suffering. Puppy buyers don’t think about the parent dogs that are forced to breed and make puppies over and over again. This is what our cause is really about - raising awareness about the breeding dogs. There are an estimated 10,000 puppy mills in the US producing a shocking estimate of 2.4 million puppies a year. The breeding dogs live a life in conditions that most people would consider horrific & inhumane. It is hard for consumers to associate the reality of what goes on through these high-volume breeders. No water.

At this state- and USDA-licensed kennel, three dogs had no working water. The water ni**le in their pen was broken. When it was tested, nothing came out.

One Golden Retriever was trying to squeeze its head under the fence to lick up water pooled in the next pen. When the dogs were given a bowl, they drank non-stop for 30 to 45 seconds.

The kennel keeps breeding. Its puppies are sold through brokers, pet stores and websites. The listing will never show you this.

Go to the breeder's property and meet the mother dog in person before you buy. Can't meet the mom? Don't buy the puppy.

Puppies from this kennel have been sold to brokers, pet stores and buyers in at least 7 states, some more than 1,600 miles from where they were born. Many are sent by commercial transport.

The person who buys that puppy never sees the kennel, the pens or the mother dog. They see a photo online or a puppy in a store window.

If a seller can't show you the mother dog in person, at the place where the puppy was born, walk away.

Packed in.

This licensed kennel, large dogs were housed in a storage container converted into dog housing. Three of them were crowded into one pen inside it.

In the main kennel building, pen after pen held more dogs than there was room for, as many as 8 dogs in a single pen.

The licensed kennel is allowed to keep breeding, and its puppies are sold online and in stores. Puppy listings show one puppy. It doesn't show where that puppy's parents live.

Meet the mother dog where she lives before you buy. Can't meet the mom? Don't buy the puppy.

This is the fix.

At this licensed kennel, the mother dogs had no space to get away from their puppies. The answer was a small wooden platform, about 8 to 10 inches across. Too small for a mother dog to actually use.

That's how the system works. A breeder is told to fix something, puts in a fix, and keeps breeding. The license stays. The litters keep coming. The mothers stay in the same pens.

No license or rule can show you how a mother dog lives every day. Only seeing her can.

The puppy in the online listing is cute. This is where its mother lives.

At this licensed, state inspectors cited the whelping pens because there was no area where the mother could get away from her puppies and rest.

Online sellers show you the puppy. They almost never show you the mother, or the pen she lives in, or how many other dogs live the same way.

That's why we say: go to the breeder's property and meet the mother dog in person. Not on a video call. If they won't let you, walk away.

This Is What "Licensed" Looks Like

"USDA licensed." "State licensed." Online puppy sellers and pet stores love those words.

This breeder is licensed by both the state and the USDA.

A license means a kennel met minimum rules on the day an inspector showed up. It doesn't mean the dogs live a good life. This kennel was cited for violations in 2024 and cited again for repeat violations in 2026.

Before you buy, go to the breeder's property and meet the mother dog in person. Can't meet the mom? Don't buy the puppy.
