That's right, the autumn edition of Reuse-a-Palooza is right around the corner, on Sun. Oct. 4 from 11am-3pm, at The Plant at 1400 West 46th Street!

This semiannual event provides opportunities to repair clothing and household items, safely dispose tricky-to-recycle items, and donate bicycles, clothing, and more, all the while bringing attention to strategies to reduce waste and improve environmental conditions. We’ll be joined by an amazing group of waste-reduction and repurposing enthusiasts providing approaches to purchasing and consumption that are economically, environmentally, and socially responsible.

350 Chicago will be there talking to people about our Divestment and Utility campaigns, asking attendees to sign postcards to support the campaigns and be delivered to Illinois legislators.

A tour of The Plant will be offered at 2pm sharp. Purchasing advance tickets are strongly encouraged, as this tour WILL sell out!

350 Chicago is working to reform utility lobbying practices to save bill payers money and stop utilities from blocking the clean energy transition in Illinois! We collected 2,100 postcards that were delivered to lawmakers last year, and we’re attending nearly 30 events this year to continue building grassroots support in support of utility lobbying reform. The legislation will be reintroduced in 2027, along with a planned Utility Transparency Town Hall.

Fossil fuel divestment in Illinois is gaining momentum! Last legislative session, 14 Senate and 11 House sponsors were secured to support the Fossil Fuel Divestment Act. We also delivered 2,500 postcards to lawmakers, negotiated the method of divestment with Pension Boards Leadership and grew our Fossil Fuel Divestment Coalition to 44 organizations. This year we will further expand our coalition, gain more statewide support while educating legislators about divestment.

350 Chicago made important progress on fossil fuel divestment and utility transparency in Illinois in the past year. New Senate and House members signed on to the bills and 350 Chicago delivered thousands of postcards from Illinois residents to lawmakers. Both bills will be reintroduced in 2027 and we’re building statewide support needed to push them across the finish line.
