Meet Teresa Prim, our 2026-2027 Empowerment Series instructor for Multifamily Development and Home Ownership sessions.

Teresa Rufaro Prim is the co-founder of Prim Lawrence Group, a community economic development and real estate development consulting firm. Ms. Prim brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the firm with more than 30 years of experience in affordable housing development, business development, consumer and worker-owned cooperatives, organizational management and program design.

Her firm is responsible for securing both public and private sector financing for over 500 units of affordable housing representing more than $100 million for single family and multi-family housing development projects. In addition, Ms. Prim has secured more than $100 million in financing for commercial real estate and small businesses.

Meet Kathleen Day, our Source of Development Finance instructor for the Empowerment Series 2026-2027 cohort.

Kathleen Day is Vice President, Real Estate Development for the Preservation of Affordable Housing Chicago office. She is leading the comprehensive renovations of Heart of Uptown Apartments, Levy House in Chicago, and Community and Pendleton Apartments in Cincinnati. At every stage of development including acquisition, predevelopment, refinancing, and construction, Kathleen manages projects to successful completion on time, on budget, and in alignment with POAH’s commitment to equity and quality service to residents.

Originally from Chicago, Kathleen previously worked for the Chicago Rehab Network as well as for the City of Montreal Department of Housing.

Kathleen holds a Master of Urban Planning from McGill University and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Wesleyan University. She has also studied in France and in Morocco.
