Estimados amigos,

Con profunda gratitud y profundo pesar les comparto importantes noticias sobre el futuro del Centro de Recursos Familiares sobre Discapacidades (FRCD). Tras muchos años sirviendo como Centro de Capacitación e Información para Padres (PTIC) de Illinois, el FRCD dejará de ejercer esta función a partir del 1 de octubre de 2025. A partir de entonces, Family Matters PTIC se convertirá en el Centro oficial de Capacitación e Información para Padres de Illinois.

Extendemos nuestras más sinceras felicitaciones a Family Matters A lo largo de los años, nuestras organizaciones han trabajado codo con codo para apoyar a las familias de niños con discapacidad en todo el estado. Confiamos en que Family Matters continuará esta importante misión con dedicación, compasión y excelencia. Les deseamos mucho éxito en el desempeño de esta importante responsabilidad. Si bien el futuro de FRCD aún no está completamente definido, tanto yo como la Junta Directiva de FRCD nos mantenemos optimistas. Lo que siempre nos ha guiado es nuestro compromiso inquebrantable con las familias, y ese compromiso seguirá marcando nuestro futuro.

Esta transición también es un momento para hacer una pausa y agradecer. Estamos profundamente agradecidos con los padres, las familias, los socios, los educadores y los defensores que han confiado en nosotros, colaborado con nosotros y nos han apoyado a lo largo de los años. Su apoyo ha permitido a FRCD tocar innumerables vidas, y juntos hemos construido un legado de empoderamiento y defensa que perdurará.

Al comenzar esta nueva etapa, les pedimos que tengan presente a FRCD y que sigan apoyando la labor de las organizaciones en todo Illinois que comparten nuestra misión de equidad e inclusión para las personas con discapacidad.

Big News from Family Matters PTIC!

As of October 1, 2026, Family Matters Parent Training and Information Center (FMPTIC) will officially expand our program services to cover the entire state of Illinois!

As our program grows, our commitment to providing high quality support, education and resources for families navigating special education services remains the same. We are honored to continue this important work as the federally funded Parent Training and Information Center in Illinois.

🌟 We will continue to work to ensure that all families have the tools, knowledge, and information they need to advocate for their children and partner effectively with schools.

🤝 We ask for your patience throughout October as our team grows and we onboard new staff to strengthen our statewide reach.

We are excited about this new chapter and look forward to working side-by-side with families, schools, and community partners across Illinois. Together, we can build stronger, more inclusive educational opportunities for all children.
