We're excited to share our partnership with Opportunity International to expand the Rising Schools Program into Northern Ghana.

Over 3,700 low-fee private schools are estimated to operate across the five northern regions of Ghana, yet affordable financing remains out of reach for the vast majority of them. These schools play a vital role in expanding education access, especially where public provision is limited or overcrowded.

Together with our local partner, Bessfa Rural Bank, this partnership combines access to finance with capacity building to improve school management and enhance access to quality education for more learners.

Happy International Day of Play!

At IDP Foundation, we believe children learn, grow, and make sense of the world around them through play. That's why we're proud to support Sabre Education, whose work is transforming early childhood classrooms across Ghana.

Through our partnership, Sabre has been building the capacity of teachers and school leaders to deliver play-based learning at the KG level. The results speak for themselves: classrooms filled with colorful learning corners, children who were once disengaged now actively participating, and teachers who are more confident and intentional in their practice.

On a day that celebrates the power of play, we celebrate the educators, school leaders, and partners who are making it a reality for children who need it most.

Last week, our Chair & Co-Founder Irene Pritzker joined Devex to share how IDP Foundation and Sinapi Aba Savings and Loans built a sustainable education financing mode in Ghana.

What makes it work? Pairing access to affordable loans with financial literacy training that help school leaders manage cash flow and build stronger, more resilient businesses.

Now expanded to Kenya, the model is going further. Through the $84M Generation Empowerment Fund, managed by Save the Children Global Ventures, this proven approach is being scaled to new markets and investing in local financial institutions to expand access to education worldwide.
