We are thrilled to share that Compass to Care has been selected as a Southwest Airlines® Medical Flight Network partner for the 2026–2027 grant cycle.
Through this generous partnership, Compass to Care has received 150 one-way flight passes, the equivalent of 75 round-trip flights, to help children with cancer and their caregivers travel to specialized treatment.
For many of the families we serve, the care their child needs is not available close to home. They may need to travel hundreds of miles to reach a pediatric cancer center, to participate in a clinical trial, or to receive a specialized therapy. These donated flights help ensure that the cost of airfare does not stand between a child and the care they need.
“Southwest Airlines is giving our families far more than a flight. They are giving children access to treatment and parents the relief of knowing they can get their child where they need to go,” said Michelle Ernsdorff-May, founder of Compass to Care. “We are incredibly grateful to have Southwest standing beside our families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.”
Southwest Airlines launched the Medical Flight Network in 2007 as a way to connect patients and caregivers with specialized medical care. Southwest grants complimentary travel to nonprofit hospitals and medical transportation organizations like Compass to Care, which then provide the flights directly to patients and caregivers in need.
Since the program began, Southwest has provided approximately $66.7 million in donated travel to thousands of patients and caregivers across 30 states and 50 cities. The Medical Flight Network is Southwest’s largest community investment and brings the company’s purpose to life by connecting people to what matters most.
We are honored to be part of this extraordinary network and deeply grateful to Southwest Airlines for helping us ensure that no child misses lifesaving cancer treatment because they cannot afford to get there.
