Christ the King Jesuit College Prep claims a tradition of successful education as a Catholic High School. Students earn two-thirds of their tuition, gaining valuable life-changing skills

and experience through jobs at Chicago area corporations, law firms, banks, hospitals, and non-profit organizations.

We welcomed 423 new and returning Gladiator students for the first day of school today. It is the start of CTK’s 19th year serving families on Chicago’s West Side. Our students were excited to reconnect with their classmates and teachers, Our teachers begin the school year ready to challenge and inspire our students.

At 4:30pm today, the Gladiator Varsity Football team will kick off its season against Von Steuben at 5039 N. Kimball Ave,, Chicago. The Flag Football and Girls’ Volleyball teams will play their first games next week. Come out to support our student-athletes. Go Gladiators!

CTK’s teachers returned from their summer break yesterday to begin preparing for the upcoming school year - our 19th. On their first day back, all of our faculty & staff members engaged in community building, prayer, and service.

As part of our annual day of service, the CTK volunteers were split between three church service sites. The assigned groups focused on cleaning, sweeping, dusting, and polishing three venerable churches on Chicago’s West Side - St. Martin de Porres Catholic church, part of the St. Simon of Cyrene parish, the New Mount Pilgrim Missionary Baptist church, and Our Lady of Sorrows Basilica.

The day of community building also included a Mass at CTK and a welcome lunch for all new and returning teachers & staff members. It was a great way to kick off the 26-27 school year!

Join us for CTK’s 16th Annual RISE UP fundraiser, hosted by our Auxiliary Board, on Thursday, September 17th from 6 to 9pm. We will be returning to Pilot Project Brewing in Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood for a fun night featuring a variety of craft beers, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages, plus tasty sandwiches and appetizers from their scratch kitchen. The event will also feature several exclusive raffle prizes and DJ-provided music.

RISE UP proceeds will help to support CTK’s college counseling and alumni persistence programs. Our Class of 2026 was the 15th consecutive graduating class to achieve 100% college acceptance.

Eight CTK Students recently travelled to West Virginia to participate in a summer service immersion experience at Nazareth Farm. Participants committed to a week of prayer, simplicity, community, and service. Thank you to the 8 rising seniors, Alona, Evan, James, Ja’Ron, Sariya, Sheridan, Taniyla, and Tennelle, as well as CTK chaperones Mrs. Cheryl Cattledge and Fr. Jack McLinton, S.J. for dedicating part of their summer break to helping others!

Today is the feast day of St. Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Society of Jesus – the Jesuits. At Christ the King Jesuit College Prep it is our mission to follow the lead of St. Ignatius in guiding our students to become men and women for others, and in caring for the whole person, mind, body, and soul (cura personalis).

As our students do as part of their daily Examen during the school year, we ask St. Ignatius to pray for us and help us to go out and set the world on fire!

Earlier today, representatives of the Village Keepers stopped by to present $2,500 college scholarships to eight members of the CTK Class of 2026. Congratulations to Marjae Brooks, Camari Brown, Kamara Byrd, Ny’Jaree Cardine, Autumn Fields, Nye’Ana Rice, Cenyhia Thomas, and Toni Thomas, for being recognized for their persistence and dedication. The CTK scholarship recipients were originally announced as part of this spring’s College Signing Day ceremony.

We are grateful to the Village Keepers who mentor students as career coaches in our Corporate Work Study Program and support graduates in their journey to college. Best of luck to the students as they begin their college experiences within the next month.

The second week of CTK's Summer Business Training program for all new students concluded today. The week started with speed networking to help the students communicate effectively with adults they are meeting for the first time. As part of their last day, the students showcased their developing professional skills in capstone speeches highlighting who they are and what they have learned during the program. Our newest Gladiators then joined their classmates and families for a Welcome BBQ lunch in the CTK courtyard.

Kudos to the CTK Corporate Work Study and Career Readiness teams for putting together a successful training program.

Kudos to our Gladiator football team for going undefeated during last weekend's 7 on 7 tournament. The Gladiators defeated teams from Dunbar, Proviso East, Marshall, Crane, and Steinmetz to bring home to trophy! Congratulations to the players and coaches as they prepare for the upcoming fall season.

We welcomed our new students for the 2-week Summer Business Training and school orientation program this week and continuing next week. 125 incoming freshmen and 8 transfer students have had the opportunity to meet their new classmates and participate in professional development activities designed to help prepare them for their Corporate Work Study Program (CWSP) job assignments.

Thank you to the CTK teachers, CWSP & Career Readiness staff members, and student ambassadors who helped welcome our newest Gladiators!

The CTK traveling contingent of four students - Isaiah ’27, Jermaine ’27, Juan Carlos ’28, and Josiah ’29, and three faculty chaperones recently returned from their 65-mile Camino de Santiago (The Way of St. James) hiking pilgrimage. The group started in Leon, Spain and walked to Ponferrada. They then took a bus to Santiago de Compostela, where they saw the cathedral that was imprinted on the t-shirts they wore each day. Other memorable landmarks encountered on their hike included the Cathedral in Leon, the Cruz de Ferro (Iron Cross), and the Knights Templar castle in Ponferrada. We are grateful for the generous support of the CTK donors who helped make this impactful student experience possible.
