Welcome to Bengalis in Chicago, a vibrant group of Bengalis (& non-Bengalis) in downtown Chicago. We are a community of university students & professionals from the Chicagoland area who have come together to celebrate major Bengali festivals like the Durga Puja & Saraswati Puja. We have come a long way since 2006-07, when a few friends met over a potluck & expressed a desire to organize Saraswati

Puja, & then the Durga Puja in the city of Chicago, the first ever Durga Puja in downtown Chicago. We also organize cultural events such as Nabobarsho, the Bengali New Year, & Rabindra Jayanti. Besides, we are enthusiastic about meeting new people, making new friends, & eating delicious Bengali food over a session of adda. So please join us at our upcoming events & be a part of our group.

Dear Friends,

We are writing to seek your support for a noble cause. In the year 2000, Swami Dayananda Saraswati founded the All Indian Movement for Seva (Aim for Seva) to provide education and health care to the least privileged sections of Indian Society. In fourteen years Aim for Seva has grown into a national movement. It has constructed 100+ free student homes near government run schools to allow children in rural areas access to education and healthcare. It impacts over 20,000+ students and their families through 18 educational institutions and 270 evening tuition centers across 15 states.

In order to sustain these institutions and build on the mission to reach education to every child across India, we need your support! You can help by coming to Meghadootam, a fabulous dance drama of one of Kalidasa's greatest poems on September 7th in Skokie IL!!! The music director is Oscar nominated Bombay Jayashri and the choreographers are Shijith Nambiar and Parvathy Menon, a very well known duo

The event is free of charge, and all we would like you to do is the following!

1. Register to get free passes at www.aimforsevachicago.com

2. Consider sponsoring a child for one month, six months, or a year when you absorb the impact that Aim for Seva has had in its 14 years of existence. You can even sign up for $10 /month recurring payments !!

3. Help us raise awareness by forwarding this mail to your friends network.

Any questions or comments: Send an email to [email protected]

Thanks in advance for your support and we hope you can make it to this wonderful event
