We are heartbroken to hear of the passing of renowned Palestinian artist, Sliman Mansour.

Born in 1947, Mansour spent decades creating powerful art that highlighted the struggle for liberation, Palestinian culture, and the violence and destruction of Israel. Mansour’s iconic imagery helped shape contemporary Palestinian art, as he founded and lead the League of Palestinian Artists from 1986-1990, cofounded the Al-Wasiti Art Centre in East Jerusalem in 1994, and taught at Al Quds University from 2000 to 2014.

Mansour’s dedication to his homeland will never be forgotten, and we honor his life and legacy. May he rest in power!

Footage surfaced from earlier in July showing activists from US Palestinian Community Ntwrk confronting US House Representative Sean Casten (Illinois) for continuing to support arms sales to the Israeli Occupation. 

Activists demanded that he co-sponsor House Resolution (HR) 3565, otherwise known as the “Block The Bombs Act”, which would stop the transfer of U.S. weapons to the Israeli Occupation. 

Casten can be seen frustrated as he refuses the activists’ demands in co-sponsoring the resolution.

Activists have called on the community to email and phone Casten’s office and demand his support for HR 3565.

Earlier this month, at the Evergreen Park Fourth of July Parade, USPCN-Chicago members confronted Rep. Sean Casten (Rep. Sean Casten) and demanded that he co-sponsor H.R. 3565, the Block the Bombs Act, introduced by Rep. Delia Ramirez (Congresswoman Delia C. Ramirez) to halt the transfer of offensive U.S. weapons to Israel.

Rather than supporting legislation to stop arming Israel’s genocide in Gaza, Casten defended his position, arguing that Israel should not be “singled out.” When asked to support stopping the bombs, his response was unequivocal: “You have asked and I have said no.”

As Israel continues its genocide against the Palestinian people with U.S. weapons and political backing, every member of Congress must decide whether they will continue enabling these crimes or act to stop them.

As our movement continues to grow, so do attempts to suppress it. Everyday Hussam Abu Safyia’s condition grows more dire as Israel continues to brutally beat him daily, refuse him medical attention, and isolate him in solitary confinement.

If we don’t act soon, Dr. Abu Safiya will die. We call on people everywhere to continue to demand Israel immediately release Dr. Abu Safiya before he is murdered! No doctor deserves to be tortured to death for refusing to abandon their patients.

The American Medical Association has still refused to speak up for their colleague after over 560 days, even going so far as inviting Israel to their most recent conference. We demand the AMA stop their anti-Palestinian racism and call for the immediate release of Dr. Abu Safiya today!
