October is National Indoor Air Quality Awareness Month. What makes indoor air quality unhealthy?

Indoor air can be 2-5 times, even up to 100 times, more polluted than outdoor air. Indoor air pollution can come from:

-Gas appliances
-Cleaning supplies and other chemicals
-Fireplaces and wood stoves
-Fragranced products like air fresheners and scented candles

Meet Breathe Easy Gala Honoree Rohan Sastry, Reach the Beach Champion Fundraiser

Rohan is a rising 8th grader at Catlin Gabel School. Rohan’s Reach the Beach journey began in 2017 when he was four years old, turning the annual ride into a cherished family tradition. Since then, Rohan has completed six century rides, a 75 miler, and a 55 miler, while also becoming a champion fundraiser in each year. Reach the Beach has been an indispensable part of his life, serving as a platform to raise awareness for lung health. When he isn't on his bike, Rohan stays active as a competitive swimmer with the Beaverton Area Aquatics Club, plays cello with the Portland Youth Conservatory Orchestra, and enjoys baking. We congratulate Rohan as a 2026 Breathe Easy Gala honoree.
