Chinese Mutual Aid Association (CMAA) is a community-based social services agency targeting the immigrant and low-income community. Originally formed by ethnic Chinese immigrants from Vietnam, the organization has grown to represent clients from a multitude of ethnicities, including immigrants from the Philippines, Burma, Ethiopia, and Russia. CMAA is particularly proud of its diversity, as shown by its Board President being of Korean descent, and its Executive Director being a first generation immigrant from the Philippines. CMAA offers services for the community spanning several generations. After-school youth programs provide responsible programming for kindergarten to 8th grade children. Mentoring and basketball leagues help provide productive activities for young adults. Adult education programs offer lessons in English proficiency, financial literacy and computer skills. A wide array of social services are offered, including housing assistance, health care assistance, job skill training, and job placement. CMAA is particularly proud of its senior services, including a robust homemaker service, as well as an active Golden Age Club, which does weekly activities ranging from calligraphy to Tai Chi.

A special afternoon celebrating the people who have helped shape CMAA. ❤️💛

On October 3, CMAA gathered with board alumni, current board members, staff, and friends at Phoenix Restaurant for our Board Alumni Luncheon.

We’re grateful for the many years of leadership, service, and friendship that have helped shape CMAA and strengthen the communities we serve.

Thank you for being part of our journey and for continuing to be part of the CMAA family. Here’s to honoring our history and looking toward the future together! ❤️

Connecting with Our Communities! 🤝✨

CMAA recently had the chance to join two wonderful community events!

📚 On Thursday, September 17, we joined the Literacy Connection Resource Fair in Elgin, where we connected with community members and shared information about our programs and resources.

🏮 Then on Saturday, September 19, we had a great time at the Pacific Square Moon Festival in Aurora, celebrating with families and connecting with the community.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello! We’re always happy to meet new faces and share how CMAA can support our communities. ❤️
