Providing access to leading research is central to Logan’s role in advancing chiropractic and health sciences. The 19th Annual Joseph Howe Oration in Diagnostic Imaging underscored that last week with speaker Kenneth A. Weber II, DC, PhD from Stanford University’s School of Medicine.

Organized and moderated by Norman Kettner, DC, DACBR, FICC, emeritus professor in Logan's radiology department, Dr. Weber’s presentation explored how artificial intelligence and quantitative imaging techniques are transforming the evaluation and management of spinal disorders. Dr. Weber discussed his research in developing imaging-based spinal and muscular markers of health for spinal conditions and what this meant for current opportunities and challenges in the field.

For Ryan Loucks, DC ('23), MSSSR ('15), MSNHP ('26), PhD, the decision to pursue an advanced degree in nutrition grew from a deeply personal experience.

After losing more than 100 pounds, Dr. Loucks developed a strong interest in nutrition, weight management, and helping people make sustainable lifestyle choices. That journey led him to co-author The GLP-1 Blueprint and ultimately pursue Logan University’s Master of Science in Nutrition & Human Performance (MSNHP) program.

Through the MSNHP program, he gained a stronger scientific foundation in nutrition, metabolism, inflammation, the microbiome, and recovery — allowing him to bring evidence-based knowledge into his chiropractic practice.

When a representative from Logan University visited her undergraduate institution in Puerto Rico, Genesis Amal Acosta Irizarry, MS ('26) found her perfect fit in the Master of Science in Sports Science & Rehabilitation (MSSSR) program.

Completing the online graduate program from another country initially brought some uncertainty and Genesis wondered whether it would be difficult to communicate and build relationships from a distance. She quickly discovered otherwise.

"Faculty members were responsive, supportive and always willing to help, and I never felt that being an online student meant that I was on my own," she said.

Now, with her master's degree in hand, Genesis is continuing her goal of becoming a Doctor of Physical Therapy.

New students in Logan University’s Master of Science in Applied Nutrition and Dietetics (MSAND) program kicked off their Supervised Practice Learning Experiences with an opportunity to serve the St. Louis community.

As part of orientation, seven MSAND students joined program director Jamie Daugherty, PhD, RDN, LD, and Nutrition Clinical Coordinators Jen Adams, MS, RDN, LDN, and Brooke Theodorakos, MS, RD, LD for a volunteer experience at Food Outreach in Midtown St. Louis. Together, the group prepared more than 500 meals for individuals living with cancer and HIV.

It was a meaningful way for students to begin their supervised practice experience — working together, giving back, and seeing firsthand the important connection between nutrition, health, and community care.

Thank you to Food Outreach for welcoming our students and providing such an impactful start to their experience!

The "Pulling for Hope" event supports Wings of Hope, a Chesterfield-based organization that provides access to health care in underserved and remote communities around the world.

Logan was not only proud be a sponsor of "Pulling for Hope," but - as part of Chiropractic Health Awareness Month - excited to spread awareness of chiropractic care and provide information on protecting your back, especially when pulling heaving objects.😀
