The Fulton School is an independent, nonprofit, Montessori school for toddlers through 12th grade in Chesterfield, Missouri.

We offer a strong academic environment fostering self-confidence, curiosity, kindness, and a love of learning. The Fulton School believes that children learn best by touching, hearing, tasting and experiencing life. Everything the student experiences is purposeful, from the work the preschool teachers set on the shelves and the sixth graders running the school store to community service planning by the high school students. At The Fulton School, students are absorbing and growing and learning every minute of the day. We believe students should love school and our students do. The Fulton School is accredited by the Independent Schools Association of the Central States (ISACS) and affiliated with the American Montessori Society (AMS).

Last week our Upper Elementary students took a short road trip to Jefferson City, our state's capitol.

They toured the Missouri Governor's Mansion at 100 Madison Street. This has been the official residence of Missouri’s Governors since 1872 and is one of the oldest governors’ homes in the United States.

They also toured the Capitol Building, the third such building to stand in Jefferson City (the two previous capitols were destroyed by fire). They attended a mock session in the Senate and took a guided tour, learning about our state's history through the building's beautiful art.

Two of our high schoolers performed a brilliant adaptation of the famous Chapter 3 "Let me in" scene from "Wuthering Heights," complete with a skeleton prop for Cathy’s ghost.

Earlier this month, two of our Early Childhood Montessori teachers -- Ms. Sydney Seidel and Mrs. Courtney Bowen -- attended a six-hour intensive, “The Peaceful Revolution: A Day of Restoration and Hope,” as part of Hope Montessori Educational Institute’s 2026 Annual Conference. It was led by Catherine McTamaney, an award-winning teacher and Director of Undergraduate Studies for the Department of Teaching and Learning (Peabody College) at Vanderbilt University. Ms. Seidel said, "It was really incredible. I am feeling so inspired and so grateful we were able to attend."

We love seeing our wonderful educators get involved in such energizing professional development.

A shout out to these TFS students who participated in the Gumbo Flats Annual Pumpkin Run 5k/10K and Children's Fun Run this past weekend.

In their age group, 8th graders Calder K. finished 1st and Bodhi L. finished 2nd. And two of our Lower Elementary students -- Ashlyn L. and Adelaide K. -- finished 1st and 3rd respectively in their age group. Congrats to our *fast* Eagles!

Our Middle Schoolers did a gallery walk activity to understand their peers’ perspectives on the book they just completed, "Salt to the Sea," a novel by Ruta Sepetys that tells the story of the sinking of the MV Wilhelm Gustloff in January 1945 — the deadliest maritime disaster in history.

Up next on Monday... Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night."

Last week was our first Spanish Reading Buddies of the school year.

Once a month our High School Spanish students get together with students from Lower Elementary for reading and activities. The buddies took turns introducing themselves in Spanish, read "un cuento" (a story) in Spanish, then colored a piece of a mural of Frida Kahlo that will be put together later this month to celebrate Spanish Heritage Month. What a great morning!

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mr. Benjamin Wiggles.

A Red Devil Cichlid, Mr. Wiggles was a resident of this school for more than 7 years. It wasn't until a batch of fresh eggs were found in the tank that we realized she was in fact NOT a Mister, but rather a Misses (but her name had already taken hold).

So many students, families, and faculty have enjoyed saying hello to her over the years. Her friend, a nameless black-and-white striped Convict Cichlid, is still calling the fish tank home. Be sure to stop by and give him some love.

Our Lower Elementary students have been researching marine life, so they planned a fantastic field trip in late September to the St. Louis Science Center to see the blue whale exhibit.

After the field trip, they decided to draw a life-size blue whale on the blacktop on the Upper Parking Lot -- 90 feet long -- and figured out that it would take 18 Mr. Waides, from head to toe, to span the length of the blue whale!
